They began with a modest aim of facilitating education at low costs by starting schools and colleges. DES has grown from strength to strength and several institutions created and have been placed under the management of the DES since then.. . The Fergusson College at Pune established in 1885, the flagship of the DES empire is ranked as the 10th best college pan India and is irreproachably the most progressive of all its erstwhile sister concerns. Its latest venture, The Life Sciences wing (2005) runs Undergraduate and Post Graduate courses in Microbiology, Biochemistry and Environmental Sciences.. . The Jagganath Rathi Vocational Guidance and Training Institute housed within the same campus as Fergusson College offers various courses with an aim to impart industry specific skills and updated knowledge to participants. Among its endeavors are Diploma courses in Food Analytics, Environmental Safety and Management, and Clinical Research Management; in conjunction with the Biotechnology Department.. .
