Detailed description is . مرکز اسناد انقلاب اسلامی به عنوان مؤسسه پژوهشی تاریخ انقلاب اسلامی ایران و به منظور جمع آوری اسناد و مدارک مربوط به نهضت امام خمینی (ره) جهت انجام تحقیقات مستند تاریخی و سندیت تدوین و نگارش تاریخ انقلاب شکوهمند اسلامی ایران در سال 1360 فعالیت خود را آغاز نمود. در این راستا تلاش زیادی صورت گرفت تا اسناد موجود مرتبط با تاریخ انقلاب اسلامی جمع آوری شود.. در سال 1367 حضرت امام خمینی (ره) در نامه ای به حجت الاسلام والمسلمین سید حمید روحانی رییس وقت مرکز، ضمن قدردانی از تلاشهای ایشان و مجموعه همکاران وی، با ابراز عدم رضایت از انتشار تاریخ های غیرواقعی از طرف وابستگان به شرق و غرب، ضمن تشویق به نگارش تاریخی واقعی و مستند، پی گیری جدی تر در خصوص جمع آوری همه اسناد اعم از نوشته، صدا و تصویر را مورد تاکید قرار دادند. بر این اساس و از آن تاریخ عملا مرکز اسناد انقلاب اسلامی به محلی برای جمع آوری و نگهداری کلیه اسناد انقلاب اسلامی ایران تبدیل شد.
