е проектна инициатива на общинска фондация "Пловдив 2019", която има за цел да активизира потенциала на кв.
Капана, Пловдив, и чрез интердисциплинни дейности да го развие като първия квартал на творческите индустрии в страната.

Капана – квартал на творческите индустрии е дългогодишен проект на Фондация "Пловдив 2019", който привлича и заселва в една от централните, но неоживени части на града представители на творческите индустрии от Пловдив, страната и чужбина, като предоставя благоприятна и стимулираща среда за тяхното развитие.

С оглед на специфичните дадености, история и архитектура на Капана, дейностите по проекта имат за цел да съхранят, реставрират и изследват това емблематично за историята на града място..

Целта на проекта е Капана да се превърне в своеобразна международна лаборатория и място за изследване, иновации и експеримент в областта на творческите индустрии и културния мениджмънт.
Със своите дейности Капана – квартал на творческите индустрии ще се позиционира като притегателно място за артисти, куратори, културни мениджъри, занаятчии, софтуерни специалисти, архитекти, урбанисти, писатели, музиканти от цялата страна и ще се превърне в разпознаваем международен резидентен център.

КАПАНА носи името си от XV в., когато две тесни пазарни пространства, притиснати отвсякъде с дюкяни и наречени „Ун капан” и „Буюк капан”, кръщават квартала наоколо.
Това е занаятчийската чаршия на Пловдив, където кипи невероятно пъстър живот – през 1652 г.
дюкяните там са 880 на брой.
Сред най-внушителните сгради в КАПАНА са тази на Куршумхан, в която се помещавало управлението на абаджийския еснаф и Големият безистен - правоъгълна едноетажна сграда с площ 500 кв.м, в която търговците прибирали стоката си.
Около безистена били работилниците на различните сдружения, а имената на част от улиците, запазени и до днес - "Железарска", "Златарска", "Абаджийска", "Кожухарска", подсказват къде са били събрани магазините на всеки от занаятите.
През 1906 г.
в Пловдив избухва голям пожар и огромна част от сградите на КАПАНА са загубени завинаги.
През 1981 г.
за първи път група проектанти и архитекти представят проект за обновяване на КАПАНА, който има за цел да го превърне в мултифункционално място и в същото време да запази автентичния дух на квартала.
Желанието им е старите сгради да бъдат запазени, а новите строежи да бъдат съобразени със стила на комплекса.
