My interest in photography grew from my love for travel, where I continue to be inspired to capture the essence of a time, a place and its people. Susan Brunialti is a Melbourne based photographer, with a passion for Travel, Street Photography, Landscapes and Portraiture. . Her interest in photography grew from her love for travel, where she continues to be inspired to capture the essence of a time, a place and its people.. In 2010, Susan bought her first DSLR and practiced her craft daily on her newborn son. . Returning to a corporate career in 2011, allowed little time for her new found hobby however after being inspired by extensive overseas travel with her family throughout 2013, Susan joined the Melbourne Camera Club as a novice member in April 2014. . Later that year, she was the recipient of the Mal Mckay Trophy, for best new member print, which encouraged her to continue with photography. . The Melbourne Camera Club would be a portal for her career change and in early 2015 she commenced studies towards a formal photography qualification completing an Advanced Diploma at Photography Studies College (PSC) in Melbourne. . Her studies provided her with the opportunity to explore different photography genres and printing to alternative mediums. In 2016 she printed her aerial landscape folio onto silk and presented individual landscape scenes on scarves and presented her work wearing a dress made with fabric printed with one of her landscape images. . Through her studies at PSC, Susan was introduced to the documentary work of Henri Cartier Bresson, where she gravitated towards his Street Photography. . In 2016, she exhibited in her first Exhibition with a collective of Street Photographers for “Shot in the Heart of Melbourne”, curated by the Australian Association of Street Photographers, in Melbourne. . Later that year her Street Photography work won best entry in a National photography competition run by the Australian Photographic Society.. . In 2017 Susan was invited to join Project Street 7:30, a concept started by two professional photographers to invite 30 photographers to shoot, print and hang their one street print in a gallery within 7 hours, ready for auction that same evening. Susan’s print was one of the highest bids in the auction. Recently her street photography work was published in Capture Magazine, Australia’s top selling professional photography magazine. . . Susan continues to be a member of the Melbourne Camera Club, where she holds a number of office roles on a volunteer basis, including Director on the Board and Exhibition Coordinator. She recently coordinated the 2018 International Women’s Day Photography Exhibition bringing together 56 women photographers and curating over 200 prints.
