Le Petit Peuple est un organisme communautaire créé en 1989 par des étudiants de niveau secondaire accompagnés de leur professeur. Sorti des sentiers battus, le Petit Peuple a entrepris des activités novatrices par leur caractère d'entraide et ouvertes à la différence de chacun notamment en laissant une place relativement grande aux jeunes adolescents dans la prise en charge de l'organisme et des activités. Le Petit Peuple a pu grandir en incluant les jeunes comme les vieux dans diverses activités d'entraide communautaire et humanitaire. Chaque année, le Petit Peuple organise en République Dominicaine un stage humanitaire auquel participent une quinzaine de jeunes. Il a aussi été a l’origine de la Soupierre, un de ses projets des plus impressionnants qui a permis à de nombreux étudiants de la polyvalente sainte Thérèse de s'intégrer, de s'alimenter et de découvrir le monde communautaire. D'ailleurs, de nombreux jeunes viennent chaque année contribuer à la mission du Petit Peuple en participant aux activités d'entraide qui profitent principalement aux personnes âgées à domicile. Ces services, tels : raclage de feuilles, lavage de vitres, et bien d’autres sur demande, sont offerts gratuitement. «Le Petit Peuple permet donc à des jeunes de se prendre en main plutôt que de se faire prendre en charge et d’ainsi contribuer concrètement à l’avènement d’un monde meilleur.
