Detailed description is . Der Leintalzoo ist ein Tierpark in Schwaigern, der sich auf die Haltung von Affen spezialisiert hat. Auch heute bildet die Pflege von Primaten einen Schwerpunkt.Der Zoo geht auf den 1974 in Ludwigsburg gegründeten Förderverein für das Menschenaffengehege zurück, der 1985 seinen Sitz nach Schwaigern verlegte und sich seitdem Förderverein für den Tierpark im Leintal e. V. nennt. Der Tierpark wurde 1980 eröffnet. Der Schwerpunkt lag anfangs auf der Aufnahme und Pflege von vernachlässigten Tieren, insbesondere Exoten, die in üblichen Tierheimen nur ungenügend untergebracht werden konnten. Inzwischen zeigt der Tierpark über 270 Tiere aus über 50 Arten. Jährlich besuchen 50.000 Menschen den Leintalzoo.Der Park liegt zwischen den Gemeinden Leingarten und Schwaigern und befindet sich an einem sumpfigen Gebiet mit vielen naturbelassenen Seen und Biotopen.Die Hauptattraktion des Zoos ist die größte Schimpansen-Gruppe Deutschlands, mehr als 30 Schimpansen jeden Alters leben hier zusammen. Weiters findet man verschiedene Primatenarten (Lemuren, Kapuzineraffen, Mandrills), Vögel (Papageien, Ibisse), Maultiere, Ponys, Wasserschildkröten, Pfauen und ein Streichelgehege.
