Detailed description is La Société des Amis du château de Pau, fondée en 1952, est une association loi 1901. Elle porte toute son attention au Musée national du château de Pau et à son domaine, dont la renommée est liée à la personnalité de son occupant le plus illustre, Henri IV, roi légendaire. Ses objectifs : 1) - Enrichir les collections du Musée national par des achats, ou dons, d'oeuvres réalisés en concertation avec la direction du Musée national. 2) - Etre un relais entre le musée national et des publics multiples et diversifiés. 3) - Contribuer à l'animation culturelle de la ville de Pau. Ses moyens d'action : 1) - Conférences mensuelles à thème historique ou artistique. L'entrée à ces conférences est libre et gratuite, 2) - Organisation de voyages culturels sous la direction de conférenciers qualifiés, 3) - Organisation de matinées musicales dans la salle des cent couverts du château, 4) - Publication d'un bulletin semestriel, illustré, rédigé par des érudits ou spécialistes d'histoire ou d'histoire de l'art, et diffusé en France et à l'étranger, 5) - Publication d'un bulletin d'information, trimestriel, le Petit Journal destiné à faire connaître ses activités proches et immédiates ainsi que celles du musée national à ses Amis et à des publics divers, et diffusé gratuitement à l' OT, Bibliothèques et autres organismes culturels. La qualité des prestations présentées par la Société des Amis du Château de Pau a débouché sur sa reconnaissance d'organisme d'intérêt général par la Direction des Services Fiscaux en septembre 2005. La Société, rassemble plus de 450 membres. Elle est membre de la Fédération française des Sociétés d'Amis de musées - 290 associations. Elle a son siège au Château de Pau, 64000 Pau.
