This time last year cofounder, Eliyahu, and I were two very lost boys, one night we found ourselves packing our bags to be smuggled into Syria during a bloody civil war. Long story short it changed both of our lives and this foundation is part of that change. . . We founded Lost Boys Medicine with two intentions, first to give help to people who need it most and second, to tear down the walls between those receiving help and those giving help. . . We are small. We are new. We are learning how to be a charity. Please join us and be a part of the story. . . The story starts in the town of Qalaat Al Madiq in Northern Syria. A town whose hospital was destroyed by Government bombing and subsequent raids early on in the Revolution. In January 2013 the town had just one small room adjoining the Media Centre in which patients were treated. Now in March 2014 the town finally has a health centre (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Primary-health-care-center-in-afamia/625896404124235). Here people can go to be treated for everyday health issues. It also serves as a field hospital for wounded civilians and fighters from the ongoing war.. . Like us it is new. Like us it is learning. Like us it needs your help. . . We are here to facilitate and provide accountability for the flow of charitable funds. We cannot force people to give money but we can assure them on where it is going and what it is achieving. While we support the work of other, older and much bigger organisations (UNICEF, Save the Children, ICRC) people may find that any money they give is so small it gets lost in the scale of these organisations operations. These organisations may have up to 100 separate projects going on around the world at any given time. At Lost Boys we fund one project at a time and provide extensive feedback on that project through social media.. . We are able to do this by having trusted people on the ground committed to providing us with information from Qalaat Al Madiq.
