Maharashtra Academy of Naval Education and Training (MANET) is a part of the glorious and reputable Maharashtra Academy of Engineering and Educational Research (MAEER), MIT group of Institutions, Pune, India. . MANET was founded in 2001 with the aim of establishing a World Class maritime Training institution to provide top notch training to aspiring students in quest of career on sea. Situated at a picturesque location in LoniKalbhor on the banks of the MulaMuthaRiver, MANET boasts of having excellent infrastructure that aids learning and training of cadets in the best possible way. Currently, MANET offers two major courses, the four year B.Tech (Marine) engineering course and the three year B.Sc Nautical science course. These extremely popular courses are recognized and approved by the Directorate General Of shipping, Government of India and recognized by YashwantraoChavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU), Nashik. . MANET provides excellent training and encompasses all aspects of maritime training which include Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic engineering along with computer science, navigation, communication, seamanship and basic sciences. . The academy offers perfect learning environment at all levels. The tranquil and peaceful surroundings enable the cadets to learn with full concentration and zeal. Well-equipped laboratories, workshops, well maintained classrooms, luxuriously furnished hostels, outdoor and indoor sports facilities, Olympic size swimming pool and other facilities, facilitate hassle free learning and stimulate all around development of cadets. A boat club is also available for the cadets to gain proficiency in boating, a crucial need in this profession. MANET prides itself on having a real ship-in campus ‘Training Ship Viswanath’. The cadets are familiarized with the actual workings of the ships and are given hands on training keeping up with the latest happenings taking place in the shipping industry. MITSUI OSK lines Maritime (India) Ltd. (MOLMI) has opened a training center at MANET and commissioned 360 degree bridge simulator that adds the learning features if seafarers activities.
