Graduated with BA (History Honours) from St. Stephen’s college New Delhi and after which did his LLB from University of London.. . Political career- Won the Gidderbaha by-election in May 1995, to become the youngest member of Punjab Legislative Assembly. Re-elected to the Vidhan Sabha from Gidderbaha in 1997, 2002 and 2007. Each of his victory margins was greater than the previous one. Appointed the Finance Minister of Punjab in March 2007. Launched Jago Punjab Yatra, a movement in which he travelled all the 117 constituencies of the state, on Nov 14, 2010. This Yatra culminated with the launch of People’s Party of Punjab.. . Other Associations- Member Senate, Panjab University Chandigarh, Punjabi University Patiala; Member Regional Engineering College, Jalandhar. Remained Member of General Purposes Committee of Punjab Vidhan Sabha and Chief Whip of SAD Legislature Party in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha; working as Spokesman and Incharge, Media & Publicity Wing of SAD. .
