Ans: Originally Established by Dan McDevitt and Mark Shrader as an extension of the wrestling school Bone Breakers Training Center, Maryland Championship Wrestling (MCW) held its first card at Baltimore's Patapsco Arena on July 19, 1998, featuring Jerry Lynn, Devon Storm, Little Guido, Balls Mahoney, manager Jim Cornette, Axl Rotten, "Wildfire" Tommy Rich, and The Headbangers. Through out the next few years, MCW featured other veteran wrestlers such as Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, Ricky Morton, Bobby Eaton, Tito Santana, The Iron Sheik, Sherri Martel, The Road Warriors (Hawk and Animal), King Kong Bundy, "Latino Heat" Eddie Guerrero, Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka, The Fabulous Moolah, Mae Young, "Grandmaster Sexay" Brian Christopher, "The Franchise" Shane Douglas, Tommy Dreamer, Sabu, Tammy "Sunny" Sytch, Chris Candido, Yokozuna, Terry Funk, and Jerry "The King" Lawler who during his time in MCW held the MCW Heavyweight Championship along with the MCW Tag Team Championship with The Bruiser. Many long time MCW mainstays went on to make a name for themselves in professional wrestling such as Joey Matthews (Joey Mercury with MNM), Lita, Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, Stevie Richards, Judge Jeff Jones, Orlando Jordan, Mickie James, Duane "Gillberg" Gill, and Dawn Marie. On March 27, 2002, Steve Wilkos of the Jerry Springer Show made a one night appearance teaming with Gillberg to defeat The Slackers (Chad Bowman and Dino Divine), in a tag team match in Glen Burnie, Maryland. There were 1,267 in attendance and that set a new record for its home arena Michael's Eighth Avenue ballroom. On July 16, 2003 MCW held its final card The Last Dance: Shane Shamrock Memorial Cup at Michael's Eighth Avenue ballroom, in which over 1,300 fans were in attendance. After a 2 and a half year layoff, MCW hosted an event entitled "Resurrection" in Dundalk, MD on February 26, 2006. Over 1,300 people showed up for that event. Several hundred people were turned away as the building surpassed capacity. That event signified the official return of Maryland Championship Wrestling. On that Historic evening former Degeneration X members and former WWF World Tag Team Champions The New Age Outlaws ("Bad Ass" Billy Gunn and The Road Dogg) became the MCW Tag Team Champions and held those titles for several events. Since that event MCW has continued to showcase some of the biggest stars in professional wrestling such as the first African American WCW World Champion Ron Simmons, Rhyno, The Dudley Boyz/Team 3D (Bubba Ray and D-Von), Raven, AJ Styles, Batista, and Chris Jericho. Since the very first event in 1998, MCW has hosted events in 5 different states including Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware and Pennsylvania.
