Detailed description is The MIB aims to facilitate the education of Indigenous girls from the Ti Tree community (NT) at Meriden Senior School, through raising funds and awareness. MERIDEN INDIGENOUS BURSARY . . Currently, Meriden is privileged to have five Ti Tree girls undertaking study at Meriden in Years 7, 8 and 12. . . The Meriden Indigenous Bursary is on an exciting, upward trajectory. Some highlights from 2014 include:. . • The creation of a new Meriden Indigenous Bursary Logo (Term 1). The Committee, in conjunction with the Senior Prefects, invited Senior School students to submit designs for a new Bursary logo and were proud to award the winning design to Sophie Laundy and Jessica Bader (Year 9).. . • Distribution of a targeted ‘Mail Out’ campaign to approximately 2600 members of the Meriden ‘Old Girls’ network, with the aim of raising awareness of the Bursary within the wider school community and inviting recipients to contribute towards the girls’ educational experience at Meriden. . . On 31 October 2013, the Committee hosted a very successful interactive Forum, featuring a keynote address by renowned Indigenous leader Mr NOEL PEARSON, and interactive Panel discussion with other educational experts on the topic of ‘Remote Indigenous Education’. . . Following the success of this event, the Committee held a second forum on 4th September 2014 on the topic of: ‘Getting to Year 12 - Support for Indigenous students throughout High School.’ The evening featured addresses by The Hon Bess Price, Minister for Women in the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly and Ms Karla Grant, Presenter of popular SBS series ‘Living Black’. The evening was attended by representatives from the local community, students, teachers and politicians and Indigenous elders to discuss the importance of remote Indigenous education for girls and to support the program at Meriden. . .
