Detailed description is Roots Rock Reggae and RockSteady Music.Mike Martin is a singer/songwriter and guitar player from Vieques, Puerto Rico. From the start of his Reggae and RockSteady career (1998), he has performed on most of the venues across San Juan and around the Island of Puerto Rico, Vieques, Culebra , St Thomas and Tortola. From 1999 to 2003 the band assisted in the succesful civil disobedience movement that drove the U.S. Navy from the Island of Vieques, a small island of 10,000 souls that the Navy had been bombing for target practice since 1941. During those times they stepped up and started performing at the major reggae shows in San Juan held at the Tito Puente Amphitheatre and since then they have shared the stage with the likes of Jimmi Cliff, Lucky Dube, Culture,Barrington Levy ,Morgan Heritage,Midnite, The Wailers and other International artists. Mike Martin y los Rootsticks has headlined the Vieques Carnival for the last 10 years. After dealing with the Vieques situation the band started touring yearly in the Northeast U.S. beginning summer 2004 and is based on the Island of Martha's Vineyard for half of the year since. From there the band has performed venues in The U.S. eastern seaboard from Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Boston, Cape Cod, Conneticut, Delaware, down to Baltimore and Austin, Texas. Mike Martin y los Rootsticks just finished their 2015 summer/Fall Northeast U.S. tour and are currently in San Juan, Puerto Rico until June 2016.
