When the Mikuni Line suspended operation in 1944, Keifuku Electric Railway (now Echizen Railway) inherited the station. December 15, 1911: Mikuni Station opens as a station on the Mikuni Line. January 31, 1929: Mikuni Awara Electric Railway Mikunichō Station opens adjacent to Mikuni Station. February 10, 1929: Mikunichō Station renamed Densha-Mikuni Station. May 28, 1932: Mikuni Awara Electric Railway extends service to Higashi-Tōjinbō Station. September 1, 1942: Keifuku Electric Railway merges with Mikuni Awara Electric Railway. January 11, 1944: Densha-Mikuni — Higashi-Tōjinbō section operation ends. October 11, 1944: Mikuni Line operation suspended; Densha-Mikuni Station moves to JGR Mikuni Station and Keifuku succeeds operation of former JGR line between Mikuni and Mikuni-Minato. March 1, 1972: Mikuni Line officially closed. June 25, 2001: Operations halted due to accident on the Echizen Main Line. August 10, 2003: Station reopens as an Echizen Railway station.
