Detailed description is Nan National Museum พิพิธภัณฑสถานแห่งชาติ น่าน เป็นพิพิธภัณฑสถานแห่งชาติประจำจังหวัดน่าน ตั้งอยู่ในบริเวณคุ้มของอดีตเจ้าผู้ครองนครน่าน ถนนผากอง ตำบลในเวียง อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดน่าน มีพื้นที่ทั้งสิ้น 14 ไร่ 2 งาน 32 ตารางวา รายล้อมด้วยถนนที่สำคัญได้แก่ ถนนผากองด้านทิศตะวันออก ถนนสุริยพงษ์ด้านทิศใต้ และถนนมหาพรหมด้านทิศเหนือ อาคารพิพิธภัณฑ์เดิมเป็นหอคำที่พระเจ้าสุริยพงษ์ผริตเดชฯ พระเจ้าน่านทรงสร้างขึ้นเป็นที่ประทับ เมื่อพุทธศักราช 2446 เป็นอาคารก่ออิฐถือปูนสองชั้น แบบตรีมุขหรือรูปตัวที รูปแบบผสมผสานระหว่างแบบศิลปะตะวันตกและศิลปะไทย โครงสร้างภายในเป็นไม้ หันหน้าไปทางทิศตะวันออก มีมุขออกด้านหน้า หลังคามุงด้วยไม้แป้นเกล็ด. . เมื่อเจ้ามหาพรหมสุรธาดา เจ้าผู้ครองนครน่านองค์สุดท้ายถึงพิราลัย เจ้านายบุตรหลานของเจ้าผู้ครองนครน่านจึงไม้มอบหอคำหลังนี้พร้อมที่ดินทั้งหมดให้แก่รัฐบาล เพื่อใช้เป็นศาลากลางจังหวัดน่าน ปีพุทธศักราช 2475 ต่อมาเมื่อกระทรวงมหาดไทยได้ก่อสร้างศาลากลางจังหวัดขึ้นใหม่ กรมศิลปากรจึงได้ขอรับมอบอาคารหอคำ เพื่อให้เป็นสถานที่จัดตั้งพิพิธภัณฑสถานแห่งชาติ น่าน ขึ้นในปีพุทธศักราช 2517 และประกาศจัดตั้งเป็นพิพิธภัณฑสถานแห่งชาติ น่าน ขึ้นในปีพุทธศักราช 2528 อย่างเป็นทางการ. . ภายหลังการจัดแสดงเสร็จสมบูรณ์แล้ว สมเด็จพระเทพรัตนราชสุดาฯ สยามบรมราชกุมารี ได้ทรงพระกรุณาโปรดเกล้าฯ เสด็จพระราชดำเนินเป็นองค์ประธานประกอบพิธีเปิดพิพิธภัณฑสถานแห่งชาติ น่าน ให้ประชาชนเข้าชมอย่างเป็นทางการเมื่อวันที่ 14 สิงหาคม พุทธศักราช 2530
