Through these teachers I sought stability in the chaos of life, and through mindful dialogue I was reminded how to be in silent solitude, recovering the authority of my own experience. Now I share the essence of what I have received as a gift in a diversity of landscapes - holding Meditation classes in the raw wilderness to the inner city corporate, from the peace of retreat centres to the the thumping grounds of music festivals. . . Paralleling this path, my career in Wellness started with children as an Out of School Hours Carer and Supervisor, and supporting children 1-1 with Autism in the classroom. I then served as a a Nature Education Mentor both in suburbia and the wilds of the Australian bush. For me, children serve as constant reminder of our Original Nature and the importance of whole family system approach to holding and being with suffering. . . Off the beaten track of my professional life is my work as a Wilderness Therapist and Vision Quest Facilitator. Nothing transforms my life more than the profound simplicity of the Indigenous American Vision Quest. Now after a series of Fasts, I have been formally trained in the lineage of an Apache Elder named Stalking Wolf through Malcolm Ringwalt and offer 4 day and 4 night Vision Fasts and weekend wilderness immersions. Similarly today I am grateful for the mentoring and teachings of my Australian Indigenous mentors and guides from the Rewilding movement who inspire me to dedicate time daily to cultivating Naturalness.. . The gold from these experiences in Indigenous ceremony and Meditation have been given a workable structure through 6 years training in psychotherapy, starting with a Diploma of Counseling, furthering with training in Mindfulness Based Psychotherapy and ending with a Masters in Gestalt Psychotherapy. During this time I wrote a thesis paper on the use of Gestalt Therapy within a Wilderness Therapy setting and a literature review for Wellness professionals interested in bringing their psychological practice outdoors (Eco-psychotherapy). During this time while still in Sydney I ran multiple group psychotherapy circles ranging from 4 - 12 weeks. I want to thank my supervisors and teachers from the Gestalt community both from the Relational Institute in Sydney and in the USA for their modelling of the power that comes from authenticity. . . My main focus today is working as a Integrative Psychotherapist at The Harbour Therapy Clinic in Coffs Harbour, where I work with a team of other wellness practitioners who form a web of support for those seeking wellness, balance and growth. I work with Youth as a Wellness consultant for the Reach foundation supporting their pioneering work of empowering youth to lead their own transformations.
