But voila! 50 minutes later when I peeked in there stood a golden brown beauty the mass of dough magically transformed itself into what I proudly called “my first cake” I got it right... the first time round. . (Note to self: The oven is magical but it can’t solve all food disasters!). Surprisingly it’s all been downhill ever since, I have been baking BIG TIME. Experimenting with all the family recipes to giving it my own twist I have tried hoards and scores of stuff. I proclaim, to the world I can bake and at the risk of sounding pompous I must say it’s actually quite lip-smacking. . Back to my dulce voyage...A few months later I ventured trying stunts with the forbidden bean “the cocoa bean”... quite an addiction when you’re whipping it up too! Chocolate has been a MAJOR weakness for almost everyone I know. They knew they struck gold when I started making these lovely treats at home. When you are skilled with this kind of stuff it’s no wonder that people will call a few days in advance to announce their arrival... it’s almost as if to say “Hey... I’ll be dropping by and you know my favourite is the Almond rocks ...right... you have enough and more intimation you better have it ready”.. (Note to self: your tongue is not a tool to clean the chocolate dishes. Let the maid do her job!).
