Detailed description is Nemrut Dağı ya da Nemrut Stratovolkanı, Bitlis İlinin Tatvan ilçesinde, Doğu Anadolu'da yer alan yüksek dağlardan biridir. Van Gölü'nün batısına düşer. Nemrut, uyuyan aktif bir yanardağdır ve 1441 yılında son kez lav çıkışı olmuştur. Tepesindeki kraterde Nemrut Gölü yer alır. Krater etrafında, en yüksek tepe olan Sivritepe 2935 m, Doğu Nemrut Tepesi 2625 m, güneydeki Tursuktepe 2828 m ve batıda Nemrut Dağı Tepesi 2801 m yüksekliktedir.Coğrafi konumuNemrut Stratovolkanı, Doğu Anadolu Bölgesi’nde Van Gölü’nün batı kıyısında yer alır.Nemrut Volkan Dağı, 38° 37’ 10’’ kuzey enlemi, 42° 14’ 28’’ doğu boylamında, Van Gölü, Muş Ovası, Nazik Gölü ve Bitlis Vadisi arasında volkanik patlamalar sonrası oluşmuş, Tatvan’ın 12 km batısında bulunan sönmüş bir volkandır.Bitlis ili sınırları içerisinde yer alan Nemrut Stratovolkanı'nı doğuda Van Gölü ve Tatvan ilçesi, batıda Muş Ovası, güneyde Bitlis ili, kuzeyde ise Ahlat ve Nazik gölü sınırlamaktadır. Nemrut Stratovolkanı Tatvan ilçesine yaklaşık 25 km uzaklıktadır. Bölge, bitki örtüsü bakımından oldukça fakirdir. Bölgeyi Ahlat Düzlüğü, Nemrut Stratovolkanı, Van-Muş havzası ve Bitlis Masifi olmak üzere dört coğrafi bölgeye ayırmak mümkündür. Nemrut Stratovolkanında ki yerleşim merkezleri güneyde Tatvan, batıda Güroymak, kuzeydoğuda Ahlat ve kuzeyde Ovakışla ilçeleridir.
