Individual records - I will observe and record your children’s developments on a regular basis throughout the year in order to cater for your childs particular needs and strengths. My goal is to find out what your child ‘can do’ and build from there. I can then also plan activities based on your child’s current interest and ability.. . Creativity/Art work - My programme is very rich in creative activity. Both the indoor and outdoor environment will provide your child with opportunities to become involved in art, craft, dance...gardening and building!. I believe it is important that all children are encouraged to explore, experiment and express ideas therefore themselves in their own ways. (They will take home their artwork when they are happy with the final result). . Behaviour Management - I use a positive behaviour management approach. I prefer to help children identify and solve their problems in a respectful and well thought out manner using words not actions. Some ways I guide children’s behaviour include. • I am clear about my expectations. • When appropriate I offer a choice to give the child a sense of control. • I ask the child to help solve the problem. • I mix quiet and active time to avoid over excitement. • “Feed the good, starve the bad” – Quite simply I focus on the good i.e “You waited so well for your turn” rather than the bad.. • Wording directions and rules stay positive i.e. “Sand stays in the sandpit” as opposed to “down throw sand.. • I am clear about consequences. E.g. removal from situation. • I follow through with the consequence and when it is all over I restore a positive relationship with the child. • Help children set guidelines and ‘rules’ which they can easily understand. • Encourage consideration and kindness. • I aim to plan an interesting and ‘must be there’ day for your child so they are happy little people, learning and laughing along the way. . . Daily Excursions - I feel 'experience of life' outside walls and gardens is imperative for a childs understanding of this world. Weather pending, and with approval from parents I like to take the children (mostly 9:30am-12pm with packed morning tea) to places such as Watsons Bay and Double Bay Library; Powerhouse Museum : Wiggles Exhibition; Bronte Park; Lyne Park, Thornton Park; Barracluff Park; Cooper Park Reserve for a nature walk;. . ...THEN home for a BIG healthy HOMEMADE scrummy LUNCH.. . .
