Detailed description is Conducts research to improve the health, safety, and productivity of Australia's emergency service personnel The focus of the Occupational Exercise Science (OES) group is to use exercise science research to assist workplaces in preserving the health and safety of workers in physically demanding occupations (e.g. civilian and military emergency services). Emergency service worker health and safety is a national priority, given the fundamental role these personnel play in keeping Australia safe from foreign conflict and human and natural disasters. The principal activities of OES are: (i) quantifying the work demands of, and physiological, biomechanica,l and subjective responses to, physically demanding work, and (ii) developing and validating job-specific health and fitness interventions for these workers.
