Detailed description is O Parque Nacional do Cabo Orange (PNCO) é uma Unidade de Conservação de Proteção Integral, criada pelo governo federal em 15 de julho de 1980.
O Parque Nacional do Cabo Orange, administrado pelo Instituto Chico Mendes de Conservação da Biodiversidade (ICMBio), têm 657 mil hectares e protege paisagens moldadas pelo contato dos ecossistemas amazônicos com as correntes do Oceano Atlântico.
São mangues, campos inundáveis, campos limpos entrecortados por buritizais, cerrados, florestas inundáveis (também chamadas várzeas), florestas de terra firme, além de ecossistemas marinhos.
É, ao mesmo tempo, um parque continental e um parque marinho, já que aproximadamente 200 mil hectares de sua área estão em águas oceânicas.
