The Academy teaches a practical, non-competitive martial art to people of all ages with an emphasis on Self Defence.. . The techniques taught use an attacker's strength to a defender's advantage. These defensive strategies aim to initially evade, disable and finally immobilise an attacker.. . The syllabus includes the teachings of Jishukan Ryu 自修館流 (Jujitsu-Kempo founded by Shuho Sugita 1947); Judo 柔道 (founded by Jigoro Kano 1882), Boxing and aspects of modern Jujitsu.. .
