Laxminarayan Campus, Law College Square, Nagpur was established in the year 1946. The glorious building of the Department was built in an area of 3447.11 Sq. M. So far, around 1500 postgraduate and 70 doctoral students have completed their studies from this Department. The Department offers two Post Graduate courses in M. Sc. Geology (2 years) and M. Sc. (Tech.) Applied Geology (3 years). The Department is providing research guidance leading to doctoral degree in various earth science branches ranging from its basic branches of Petrology, Mineralogy, Micropaleontology, Environmental Geology, Remote Sensing, Sedimentology, Hydrochemistry, Paleolimnology etc.. . The Alumni Association of Postgraduate Department of Geology, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (AADGENU), Nagpur aim to provide a forum for alumni of the Department of Geology, RTM Nagpur University, Nagpur for a get-to-gather, from time to time and to promote social and cultural activities. It also intends to promote Earth Science related activity, and teaching of earth sciences in the Department. In this context, to make available expertise of the former teachers and ex-students of the Department for qualitative improvement of education, and for the benefit of the society at large.. . In pursuance of the aim and objectives of the Association, following activities are proposed: 1) organization of lectures by eminent scientists, sponsoring, co-sponsoring and organizing seminars, symposia, conventions, workshops, etc. on appropriate themes related to earth sciences and allied sciences, 2) To prepare and encourage the students and research scholars for competitive examinations, interviews etc. through interaction with experts from different fields, 3) To organize and conduct field excursions to nearby places of geological interest with cooperation from experts in the field, 4) To organize popular lectures for the members of the public on selected themes related to earth sciences and environment, 5) To interact with the school students for propagating and popularizing earth sciences and related disciplines and participate in the activities of "Bal Vidnyan Parishad". In thiscontext, to organize short field trips and visits to the geology related museums, 6) To encourage members of the association to enrich library of the Department of Geology either by donating or presenting books on earth sciences, 7) To interact with the teaching staff of the Department of Geology, RTM Nagpur University with a view to promote qualitative improvement in teaching especially in the newer emerging disciplines and 8) Publication of news bulletins, brochures and periodicals.
