In 1981 werd Philippe geboren als nieuwe Belg en begon hij meteen dapper te timmeren aan de weg die hem naar vele gevulde zalen zou leiden. Op school specialiseerde hij zich in handel. Maar nadat hij daarvoor werd opgepakt, kwam hij ongeschoold en onvoorbereid op de arbeidsmarkt terecht als rekkenvuller in ‘s lands gezelligste supermarkt. Een mens zou van minder beginnen lachen. . . Het begin . En lachen deed Philippe. In 2006 zelfs laatst en best, toen hij de Lunatic Comedy Award won. In 2007 volgde een fel gesmaakte passage in de Comedy Casino Cup op Canvas, waar hij de publieksprijs mee naar huis nam (en volgens sommigen nooit heeft teruggebracht). Op 26 april 2008 ging zijn debuutshow “Droog” in première voor een bomvolle Arenbergschouwburg. Nog tot midden mei 2010 is “Droog” goed voor uitverkochte zalen in heel Vlaanderen. Na afloop van de dernière in de Antwerpse Roma wordt de show in het najaar van 2010 op tv uitgezonden. . . Radio & tv . Omdat Philippe bijna nooit meer thuis is, probeert hij trouwens zo vaak mogelijk op radio en tv te komen, zodat zijn vrouw hem ook nog eens ziet. Het arme mens klampt zich vast aan haar uitgebreide collectie videocassettes van De Pappenheimers, De Bovenste Plank, Comedy Casino, Vrienden van de poëzie en Het programma van Wim Helsen. Ze leefde intens mee met Philippes wedervaren als kandidaat en jurylid in De Slimste Mens ter Wereld, keek lijdzaam toe hoe hij schaamteloos vreemdging in Mag ik u Kussen en dacht het hare van de mannenspeeltuin die hij samen met Jan Van Looveren bouwde in M!LF. Tijdens De Raadkamer, Niets is zeker, Leef Lang en Het Ergste is al Geweest zat ze kwijnend aan de radio gekluisterd. . . Podia . Tussendoor doet mevrouw Geubels verwoede pogingen om op de gastenlijst te geraken voor de vele festivals waarop manlief schittert: de Comedy Casino Roadshow, Humo’s Popp-Poll, Humorologie, Theater aan Zee, de Gentse Feesten, Dranouter Folk Festival en Pukkelpop om er een paar te noemen. Voor Puppetry of the Penis, waarmee Philippe als voorprogramma toerde, gaf ze wijselijk verstek. . .
