Detailed description is A comunidade inicialmente chamada de Lagedo de José Anacleto, depois Manoel Grande e atualmente “Lagedo do Tabocal” surgiu por volta de 1900, devido a concentração de famílias atraídas pela fertilidade do solo e disponibilidade de terras. . Lagedo do Tabocal tornou-se cidade em 13 de junho de 1989, data de sua emancipação e quando é comemorado o aniversário da Cidade.. O principal nome responsável pela emancipação, foi Álvaro Vasconcelos Fagundes sendo o primeiro Prefeito do Município (1990 a 1992). . Com 28 anos de emancipação política, Lagedo foi Governada pelos Prefeitos (as): Nilson Andrade Santos (1993 a 1996 - 2005 a 2008), Reivaldo Fagundes (1997 a 2000 e 2001 a 2004).. Em 2009 por problemas no registro da candidatura na eleição Municipal, não foi possível assumir o Sr. Reivaldo Fagundes, o Município foi administrado pela Sra. Lilian da Silva, eleita presidente da Câmara e Prefeita Interina no ano de 2009.. Mariângela Borges foi a primeira Prefeita Mulher (2010 a 2012) seguida por Adalício Almeida (2013 a 2016).. Atualmente está no cargo a excelentíssima Prefeita Mariane Fagundes, eleita em outubro de 2016, assumiu em 01 de janeiro de 2017 para o mandato 2017- 2020.. Lagedo do Tabocal distante aproximadamente 365 km da capital Salvador, localizado no sudoeste da Bahia, tem a sua cultura com a influência no café, fruto que trouxe riquezas e conquistas para o povo dessa terra, terra de clima frio podendo chegar a temperaturas de 12°graus no inverno..
