(+82) 031-691-0237 평택은 드넓은 평야를 기반으로 예로부터 농업이 발달했고 자연히 마을 단위의 두레굿도 함께 성행하였다. 그러던 중 최은창(1914~2002)이라는 걸출한 명인이 탄생하게 되고, 그가 전문 연희패로 활동하면서 평택농악 역시 전문 연희패의 성격을 함께 가지게 된다. 그가 1978년 조직한 <평택농악>이 1980년 전국민속경연대회에 나가게 된 것을 계기로 1985년 경기, 충청지방의 대표적인 농악으로서 중요무형문화재로 지정 받는다. <평택농악>이 명실공히 전통적인 웃다리농악의 가락과 판제를 이은 것으로 인정받은 것이다. 그 뒤 <평택농악>은 웃다리농악의 전통을 지키고 이를 다시 전승하면서 오늘날에 이르고 있다.
