Charles Bradford was a well known flautist & a very good friend of John Lemone (the Australian flautist who accompanied the famous Dame Nellie Melba who, on one occasion, sang for the neighbors standing on the cottage verandah. . . The land on which the cottage stands was once part of an orchard owned by Thomas Brown. After Mr Bradfields death, the cottage was purchased by the Canisus College, leasing it to Mr & Mrs Eric Porter who called the house 'Pentecost'.
