O inovador produto, baptizado de Della Robbia White (em homenagem ao escultor e ceramista Luca Della Robbbia) começou a ser comercializado sob a designação de Robbialac = Robbia + Lac (de lacquer – esmalte em inglês). E desde aí manteve o nome até aos dias de hoje. Em Portugal, a empresa Tintas Robbialac, S.A. foi fundada em 1931.
