Detailed description is We are a relatively new team who are constantly growing. We sail out of Captain's Cove and share our facility, coaches, boats, and other work with Fairfield University's sailing team. Established in October 2011, Sacred Heart Club Sailing features over 20 sailors with varying ability levels and disciplines. We play host to beginners who are eager to become avid sailors, as well as seasoned racers and instructors than can compete on the intercollegiate level. . . Collegiate sailing is not an NCAA sport; rather, it has its own organization, the ICSA (Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association). We joined the NEISA conference (New England Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association) in 2011. In this conference we race against some top level programs such as Yale, Harvard, Roger Williams and the Coast Guard Academy; but also with other developing teams like Wesleyan, Middlebury, and our partner Fairfield.. . As a Club Sport, we are mainly student run with help from coaching staff and the university. Our base of operations and club meetings are held on campus (meeting times fluctuate according to member availability) however we spend most of our time at our sailing center which is based out of Captain's Cove in Bridgeport, CT a part of Black Rock Harbor. . . The Sacred Heart University's Sailing Team is a member and part of the Sail Black Rock Foundation along with other teams such as Fairfield University's Sailing Team.
