Let's raise enough money to buy and send over an electrical generator. . . . Zdenek Robes - chief of the Saleapaga village. . In 2006 both of us were invited to visit Samoa with a group of people from Melbourne who. assisted primary schools in Samoa.. We have seen the conditions samoan kids were educated at with no basic stationary.. In January 2007 we set up a group of volunteers, registered PASIFIKA FOUNDATION. GROUP voluntary, non profit, non government charity, received ABN number for tax. purposed.. In July 2007 a first of many shipments of school furniture, stationary, computers and. printers were send to Samoa. This assisted three primary school to get children of the floor. and sitting behind desks. To achieve this we visited many primary school in our area who. have furniture replacement policy every four years. Computers were purchased from local. computer companies, donated by ordinary people. These were checked and reprogramed. by our IT members. New laser printers were purchased from Sharp Corporation in Sydney. at wholesale cost and other manufactures.. Local government provided a yearly grant which help us with shipping costs, raffle,. fundraising dinner dances and donations made this possible.. Australian Arrow company based in Melbourne is transporting all sensitive equipment to. Samoa for free, after tsunami all building machinery and equipment.. . All travel expenses, accommodation and transport are covered by ourselves.. . In 2009 we were in Samoa when tsunami arrived. Saleapaga village was second hardest. damaged with a loss of many lives, predominantly children who were on their way to. primary school. Both of us extended our stay and assisted until December 2009.. . Total of 8 containers of goods, many pallets with stationaries and school equipment.. Building machinery, electrical equipment required for building pre-school, primary school. and community hall which are now completed and fully equipped.. . As recognition of our assistance I was awarded matai title Feagai ma Alii in 2009.. 2010 received a status of permanent residents.. Both of us relocated to Samoa in December 2010 a live here since.
