Saving for Change is a community-managed & savings-led microfinance model that members form a group that saves, lends, and pays dividends to its members.. . SfC is a savings-led microfinance model developed by Oxfam, and pioneered in Cambodia by Oxfam and partners since 2015. Core principles of SfC are:. 1- Members are self-selected, based on trust. 2- Group is autonomous, self-regulated. 3- Group has to go through seven weekly training sessions. 4- Group saves weekly with flexible cash deposits (with max = 5 times of min. saving amount) . 5- Group rolls saving cycle, usually 8-12 months. 6- Fund distribution is made at the end of saving cycle. 7- No grant, nor matching fund, nor credit to group. . SfC is designed to respond to the rural poor women's needs:. --Saving: women need to know how to be able to save their money, even they earn less.. --Financial Literacy: women need to know how to manage well their expenses within the less income they have.. --Financial Numeracy: women want to be able to read and write the number, to understand the money digits.. --Gender equality: women need a space where they could discuss about gender issues, community development issues. They want to participate in decision making both in household and in their communities.. . To learn more about the model and methodology, please contact Oxfam in Cambodia located at #94 Russian Blvd, Phnom Penh, Cambodia; and our partners..
