Church History:.
On January the 13th, 1946 the first service was held in Brookings by the Rt.
Rev.
Thomas Jenkins who was formerly the Bishop of Nevada.
There was an attendance of just 15 that day; 12 of whom were communicants.
The service was held in the side room of the community church building.
Thereafter a service was arranged for 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month, with the Holy Eucharist on the first Sunday, and Evensong on the third.
When Deacon Isom was ordained into priesthood, Bishop Jenkins left.
Rev.
Luther O.
Isom took over, moving the church to a site opposite the public school; property donated by Elmer Bankus for the purpose of establishing a "stately" church.
.
.
St.
Timothy’s was incorporated in 1951, and continued meeting on the property donated by Elmer Bankus until the 26th of September 1954 when a smaller version of the current building was opened.
The property was purchased for ten dollars from Mr.
Warren T.
Smith and Mrs.
Ruth Barrett Smith.
The first addition to the church building began in 1981 and was completed three years later in 1984, with the stained glass windows being added in 1984 and 1985.
