Between 1988 and 1995, Namo successfully carried out the necessary groundworkfor making ‘Gujarat BJP’ the ruling party of the state and hence was recognized as a ‘master strategist’. . In 1995, he was made the National Secretary of the party and was in charge of five major states in India– a rare distinction. Promoted as the General Secretary (Organization), in 1998, he revamped the party organization in many states and also served as the spokesperson at the national level, till being entrusted the role of leading Gujarat in October 2001..
