Tallapoosa County consists of 716 square miles predominately in the Piedmont plateau section of Alabama and contains most of Lake Martin. Cities in Tallapoosa County include Alexander City, Dadeville, Jackson's Gap, New Site, Camp Hill, Goldville, Reeltown, Hackneyville and Daviston. A portion of the city limits of Tallassee lies within Tallapoosa County. There are 41,203 residents in the county. The County Seat is located in Dadeville. The demographic makeup of the county is 69% white, 27% black, 2.5% Hispanic and 1.5% other. Seventy-nine percent of county residents are high school graduates or higher (age 25 & above) with 16% holding bachelor's degrees or higher. We have slightly over 3600 veterans living in the county.
