Detailed description is Teach 2 the Core is a nonprofit mentoring program where Philadelphia's inner-city youth can receive free tutoring and take part in cultural activities. The Teach 2 the Core project is a “Pay It Forward” non-profit mentoring program. We pair inner-city children with mentors who came from similar neighborhoods and are currently in college or seniors in high school and have a proven record of academic success. In return for free tutoring services the younger students will be encouraged to donate time towards a community beautification project.. . The students in the program will have access to the computer lab at Turning the TIDE three nights a week. During that time they can communicate with their mentors, receive tutoring services including homework help, and take part in game-based educational activities.. . Students in the program will also have the opportunity to participate in Teach 2 the Core cultural events including field trips to the museum, galleries, health and cooking classes, physical education, and sporting events.
