Nato nel '75, il Teatro del Buratto ha da sempre indirizzato la produzione con un'attenzione particolare al momento musicale, all'aspetto pittorico, grafico e di immagine, nella direzione di un Teatro "totale", dove alle consuete tecniche d'attore, che fanno uso di linguaggi verbali e gestuali, si accompagna una ricerca nel teatro d'animazione (pupazzi, oggetti, forme) secondo le tecniche più diverse: teatro su nero, pupazzo indossato, ecc.. Gli spettacoli effettuano repliche a Milano, in tournée su tutto il territorio nazionale e all'estero.. . Fra le produzioni più significative: "L'Histoire du Soldat", musiche di Igor Stravinskij, scelto dal Teatro alla Scala per la stagione invernale; "Il Viaggio di Astolfo", liberamente tratto dall'Orlando Furioso, vincitore nel 1983 del Premio E.T.I. Stregagatto come migliore spettacolo; "Hello George" di V. Cerami su musiche di George Gershwin; "Cappuccetto Bianco" da Bruno Munari; "Nel Tempo che non è più e che non è ancora" di M.
