University of Gujrat (UOG) was chartered by Government of Punjab in 2004. it is located in suburbs of Gujrat at a beautiful and picturesque spot which is about 12 kilometres from the city. It is comprised of main Hafiz Hayat Campus, which includes one medical college, and four other constituent colleges located across the city of Gujrat UOG has always been committed to cultivating talent groomed to excellence, advancing science and technology, striving for social and economic development, and promoting knowledge culture with the spirit best manifested in the university vision of ”A world Class University” Since its inception, UOG has always been trying to cater to the national and regional needs, and exert itself to become an influential high-level premier place of learning innovation and a pooling of talents.. . For the nourishment of scholarly aptitude and skills, besides offering regular four year degree programs, ranging from basic sciences to art, design and architecture, engineering to business studies, sociology to medical sciences and law to geosciences, the university also offers two years associate degree programs in six disciplines deploying community participation. University focuses on academic subjects and research symbiotically together, therefore, research is among the top priority trust. University has established a number of research centres, including Centre for Population, Urban & Environment Studies (CPUES), Centre for Research in Emerging & Applied Technologies (CREAT), Nano Technology Lab, and Pakistan Product Design Centre. UOG believes in transferring research benefits in real time to the community, therefore, the Office of Research innovation & Commercialization was established in 2011 and it is playing a key role in the endorsement of high quality research culture as well as establishing strong industry linkages to promote applied and collaborative research activities.. . University of Gujrat is a general large sized university with distinctive features. University has six faculties, 35 Academic Department and offers more than 90 courses: 6 Associate Degree, 35 BS, 25 Masters, 29 MPhil and 02 PhD programs. Faculty is over 500 with 80 PhDs and 150 MPhils collaborating with many national and international organizations to establish greater impact. At present over 18,000 students are enrolled for the session 2012-13. In addition, there are more than 10,000 external students of 78 affiliated colleges and students registered as private candidates to whom UOG awards degrees after successful completion of examinations. As a strategically located university, It is providing education not only to rural localities of Gujrat but also to the peoples of surrounding districts of golden industrial triangle, i.e., Sialkot, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin and Jhelum , female ration has now touched 70 percent mar.
