Peppercorn Services Inc. (who financially manage the preschool for our community) have received notification that the Department of Education have introduced a new funding formula, which provides a base line funding for services that have low or fluctuating numbers. This new formula is based SOLELY on numbers of children enrolled at our centres NOT how many days a week they attend. This ultimately will see our current funding significantly reduced, to a point that it will not be financially viable to keep our Preschools running in the future.. . As you may or may not be aware, The Forgotten Valley falls into an area, which is governed by 4 Councils (Hawkesbury/Baulkham Hills/Hornsby and Gosford). At present, Hawkesbury City Council is the only Council that makes a financial contribution to this service, yet both preschools enroll children from all 4 Councils.. . If we don't step up and take action now we are at threat of losing this incredibly valuable resource, which will ultimately affect the whole community, not just the families that use the service.. .
