Detailed description is 滘西洲（Kau Sai Chau）是香港的一個島嶼，地區行政上屬於西貢區。島嶼面積6.69平方公里，滘西洲於昔日也有巨洲之名稱。滘西洲为香港境內面積第6大島，位於西貢市以東，萬宜水庫以西。此島大部分以象征价挌租与马会作为其会员会所，並对公众有限开放。雖多方要求开发以便解决土地问题。但因權衡交通配套及各方利益後而被土地开发当局否决。滘西洲北部相鄰鹽田仔村，村民過往以務農和曬鹽為生。今天鹽田仔村的情形跟滘西相近，人煙漸稀。旅遊 賽馬會滘西洲公眾高爾夫球場：由香港賽馬會經營的高爾夫球場，1995年啟用。 滘西洲石刻：位於滘西洲西北部，發現於1976年，是香港法定古蹟之一。滘西村與洪聖廟滘西村位於滘西洲南部。1950年代，島上人口有三至四百多人，1993年時只剩下約一百人，到現在估計不到三十人在這裏長期居住。滘西村內的洪聖廟為西貢漁民所供奉之神廟，並每年有洪聖廟誕，會邀請戲班到島上搭棚演出神功戲。此神誕除了有西貢漁民參與外，還有各大小傳統花炮會到島上領取花炮以求來年順境（舊有「搶花炮」之傳統因危險而停辦）。神誕正日時漁民及花炮會均會驅船或租船前往滘西洲，一般市民或遊客亦可以在西貢碼頭乘搭主辦單位之免費街渡前往。洪聖廟是村裏唯一的廟宇，其創建年份無從考究，但它曾於清光緒二十年（1894年）重修。滘西洲曾是英國人類學家華德英（Barbara Ward）的田野考察地點。她在1950年初次來港。1952年，政府成立牛尾海操砲區，同年七月，大部分滘西村居民被逼遷往西貢半島的白沙灣，建立滘西新村。因為村民的知識水平不高，加上華教授是英國人，跟殖民地政府溝通更有利，她幫助居民寫了一些信向政府表達他們的權利。在華教授的幫忙之下，操砲區移往火石洲，漁民得以繼續在滘西洲上安穩定居。在謀生方面，她幫助當地的漁民取得更先進的捕魚設備；在醫療方面，每當村民有緊急醫療需要，華教授會幫助他們召喚政府直昇機。
