The province announced 292 new cases of COVID-19 along with 15 deaths Wednesday, the first day vaccinations for the virus roll out in Winnipeg.
In the Prairie Mountain Health region 35 new cases were found and two new deaths — a man in his 70s at Fairview Personal Care Home and a man in his 80s from the Swan Valley Health Centre.
While the vaccine is officially in Manitoba, chief provincial public health officer Dr. Brent Roussin warned it’s not the time for people to let their guards down.
"I do think that it has been a day that has been long-awaited and so I do think we do have that glimmer of hope that we all needed, but we can’t let that change our behaviours over this holiday season," he said.
