53% of C-Level Executives Believe That Generative AI Is Driving Business Departments
More than half 53% of C-suite executives said that generative AI has become a driving force behind different functional units. This means that most top level executives are bullish about generative AI’s role in business. This does not mean that they are not worried about the security risks of generative AI.
In fact, 59% of C-level executives are deeply concerned about the security repercussions of generative AI use. They are worried that it can put their sensitive business information at the risk of compromise. This could loosen their grip over their own business and key business functions.
40% of Employees Are Using Generative AI Secretly
ISACA conducted a survey which included 2300 digital trust professionals to evaluate the use of generative AI in business. They found that 40% of employees are secretly using generative AI at work. The percentage could be much higher especially when you consider that 35% of the respondents are not sure.
The problem is that most organziations are not prepared for it. They don’t have the generative AI policies nor do they have effective risk management in place. This leaves them vulnerable to all the security risks that come with generative AI. Attackers can easily inject malware, steal your sensitive business information and use generative AI to craft human-like phishing emails to trick users into sharing their username and passwords. Then there are hallucinations, misinformation and bias.
44% Use Generative AI To Improve Their Productivity
When it comes to generative AI uses, content generation tops the list. In fact, 65% of respondents said that they are using generative AI for creating content. What’s surprising is that a vast majority (76%) of businesses are using generative AI for enhancing their productivity (44%) and automating repetitive tasks (32%).
ISACA survey also found that 29% of businesses are using generative AI to provide customer support while 27% are even using it for decision making. Generative AI allows your business to reduce the burden off the shoulders of your teams by freeing them up from mundane tasks so they can focus their energies towards value generative tasks.
59% Expressed Deep Concerns Regarding Generative AI Security Risks
According to a Kaspersky survey referenced earlier in the article, 59% of business leaders are very concerned about generative AI security risk and how it can pose a threat to their business data.
