Abilene police investigate report of not-so 'dead body'
Police were dispatched as part of a check welfare emergency.
The man was found on the road, with his head at the curb of the intersection. As police approached, the man awoke and almost rolled into oncoming traffic, according to reports.
While speaking to the man, police allegedly could smell the odor of alcohol emitting from his breath.
He was arrested for public intoxication and taken to Taylor County Jail without incident.

The victim told police that the suspect took a small hatchet and "exhibited it in an aggressive manner to make the victim fear for their life." The man was placed under arrest and taken to jail.
