VENICE -- Police say a 39-year-old man is recovering after getting bitten by an alligator Sunday morning.
Police say the attack happened while the man was standing in a large pond off Precision Drive in North Venice.
The man was airlifted to Sarasota Memorial Hospital and treated for injuries to his left leg.
FWC officers went to the scene and a trapper was sent to take the alligator away.
