Amherst regional school board moving towards committing to in-person learning in the fall
Updated Feb 10, 2021;
AMHERST – The regional school board on Tuesday started discussions on making a firm commitment, in writing, to full, on-campus teaching, for the upcoming school year slated to begin in late August or early September.
The idea is contingent on COVID-19 vaccinations being accessible for school staff, which currently is not the case.
Amherst-Pelham Regional School Committee member Peter Demling drafted a motion he shared at the Feb. 9 meeting to implement the in-school learning initiative.
“Provided that a COVID-19 vaccine has been made available to all staff, and the safety guidelines of local public health officials are fully adhered to: The Amherst Regional Public Schools will provide full-time in-person learning for the full 2021-2022 school year for all students,” the motion states.
