The city of Guthrie is doing more to protect animals. A new tethering law took effect Friday. That's when an animal is tied to a chain, cable or something similar for long periods of time while unsupervised."It has to be reasonably long enough to give that dog or cat exercise, it's got to be able to have food, access to food and water and shelter, however, the dog or cat will not be able to be out at any time when it's lower than 35 or above 85 degrees and tethered for a continuous period of time,” said Sgt. Anthony Gibbs with Guthrie police.Fines start at $100.
