With his new project âSanta Barbara,â Detroit rapper and longtime Danny Brown associate Fat Ray delivers tremendous hardcore rhymes over classic grimey production, putting himself and the independent Bruiser Brigade Records on the map.
The Bruiser Brigade has existed in some form or another for a decade running, first popping up on the seventh track of group architect Danny Brownâs 2011 project âXXX.â Yet, the label of the same name is just getting off the ground, after launching last January with the release of âGOD GOKU JAY-Zâ by signee, rapper-producer J.U.S. The second official Bruiser Brigade release âSanta Barbara,â which is available exclusively on bandcamp and executive produced by Danny Brown, pays homage to the Detroit underground scene that birthed Brown and is evidence that Fat Ray is criminally underrated.
