Since Barnett's passing, CFOW has received $43,890 in her memory, said Kerry Chalmers, CFOW executive director. The money is being used to establish an endowment fund in Barnett's name.
Grants will be available to women living in the Sea to Sky corridor who are looking to improve their skills for the betterment of the community. To be considered, applicants must partner with a local charity and "demonstrate exemplary achievement and qualities, consideration for others and outstanding personal qualities," the statement said.
"This program is a wonderful resource," Chalmers said. "It will help local women build their skills and training while simultaneously benefiting community groups."
