Australis Aquaculture has become the world’s first producer to achieve certification under the Aquaculture Stewardship Council's (ASC) Tropical Marine Finfish standard for its ocean-based barramundi farm in central Vietnam.
Australis sited its farms in Van Phong Bay in central Vietnam, where it uses a farming system that integrates seaweed cultivation and a frozen supply chain that minimizes food waste and CO2 emissions, according to the company.
“This is another milestone for the ASC, and we’re thrilled to see a farmer with such an obvious commitment to environmental sustainability embracing the program,” said Kathleen McDavitt, ASC's US market development manager.
