And well go inside the nightclubs of south korea, where a string of allegations from drug taking to Sexual Assault have rocked the k pop industry. Translation i was so scared. I tried to set myself free and shouted, help me, help me i dont know these guys. Hello, welcome to the programme. Were live until 11 this morning. One of the things you definitely wa nt to one of the things you definitely want to talk about today is the money spent doing up harry and meghan mycoplasma cows. One says, only the queen should get money from the royal purse. The rest should get properjobs like the rest of us. Oliver asks, how many grenfell victims could be permanently housed with £21; victims could be permanently housed with £2. 1i million. This country, one of the richest in the world, has its priorities all wrong. And one more for now, nikki says, please dont join the harry and meghan bashing brigade. Heres a summary the news. Good morning. The frontrunner to be the next Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, has argued that he can take britain out of the eu with a deal by the end of october because of a change in attitudes on both sides of the channel. The eu has repeatedly said there can be no renegotiation of the terms of brexit, but in an interview with the bbc mrjohnson said politics had been transformed in recent months. There is an element, of course, a very important element of mutuality and cooperation in this. And we will be working with our friends and partners to make sure that we have an outcome that is manifestly in the interests of people, businesses, communities on both sides of the channel. The refurbishment of the new home of the duke and the of sussex, Frogmore Cottage in winter, has cost taxpayers nearly £2. 5 million. The figure is revealed in the royal familys annual accounts. The couple moved from Kensington Palace in april before the birth of their son, archie. Palace official said major work was needed to change the building from five properties into a single home. The government has announced a new low for england and Northern Ireland to protect people who have allergies will stop it will require businesses to list all the ingredients in pre packaged foods. The legislation, which comes into force by 2021, will be called natashas law in memory of natasha ednan laperouse, who died after eating a sandwich from pret a manger following an allergic reaction. New Research Suggests britains most influential people are five times more likely to be privately educated than the general population. A report by the sutton trust and the social Mobility Commission says 7 of people in the uk went to private school compared with 30 39 of those in top positions. Southern water has been hit with a record fine of more than £120 million for allowing waste water from sewage pla nts to allowing waste water from sewage plants to spill into the environment and for deliberately misreporting its performance. Back to victoria. Thank you. Hello. Welcome to the programme. After facing criticism for avoiding media scrutiny, Boris Johnson, the current favourite in the battle to become tory leader and our next Prime Minister, has spoken exclusively to the bbcs laura kuenssberg. Hes been talking about brexit, saying that he doesnt believe for a moment that the uk would leave the eu without a deal, although he is willing to do so. But he wouldnt talk about the argument on friday with his girlfriend, carrie symonds, during which police were called to their flat, saying it was simply unfair to involve loved ones in the debate. In a moment well talk to conservative mp Nadhim Zahawi, whos backing borisjohnson for leader. But first, we want to play you a big chunk of that interview, because its the first time really weve got any details about what mrjohnsons Brexit Strategy will be if he becomes pm. Do have a watch and let us know your reaction. I would make sure we have a plan that will convince our european friends and partners that we are absolutely serious about coming out. The key things you have got to do are to take the bits of the current Withdrawal Agreement which is dead, take the bits that are serviceable and get them done. That is number one, the stuff about European Union citizens, the 3. 2 million, they need to be properly protected. I wanted that done the day after the referendum, you may remember. Their rights should be enshrined in an unconditional way in uk law, number one. Two, there is other things that you could do to make progress with the bits of the Withdrawal Agreement that we have. I think the money is more difficult. I think the 39 billion is at the upper end of the eus expectations, but there it is. Its a considerable sum. I think there should be a bit of creative ambiguity about when and how that gets paid over. The important thing is that there should be an agreement that the solution of the border questions, the irish border, the Northern Irish border questions, all those issues need to be tackled on the other side of october 31st during whats called the implementation period. The implementation period as it stands is part of the Withdrawal Agreement. Of course. And youve said that you wouldnt sign up to Withdrawal Agreement and its dead. Thats right. Those two things both cant both be true. No, because youre going to need some kind of agreement and thats certainly what im aiming for in order, as you rightly say, laura, to get an implementation period. But if you want to be Prime Minister, you have to tell people how you would do it you cantjust wish it to be true. Let me tell you, there are abundant technical fixes that can be introduced to make sure that you dont have to have checks at the border. There is no solution ready right now. Youre right, laura, theres no single magic bullet, but what there is a wealth of experience, a wealth of solutions. And whats changed now is that there is a real positive energy about getting it done. And if you cannot get the agreement, that sounds like you crossing your fingers, you are clear we would leave, you would take us out at halloween without a deal . An absolute guarantee . You have to be. Of course. My pledge is to come out of the eu at halloween, on october 31st. And the way to get our friends and partners to understand how serious we are is finally, im afraid, to abandon the defeatism and negativity that has enfolded us in great cloud for so long and to prepare confidently and seriously for a wto, or no deal outcome. Youve got to understand, laura, listening to what ijust said, that is not where i want us to end up. It is not where i believe for a moment we will end up. Would you really be willing as Prime Minister to face the consequences of no deal, which could mean crippling tariffs on some businesses, it could mean huge uncertainty over what on earth happens at the Northern Irish border, it could mean huge uncertainty for peoples livelihoods and peoples real lives . In the real world, the uk government is never going to impose checks, a hard border of any kind, in Northern Ireland. Thats just number one. Number two, in the real world, the uk government is not going to want to impose tariffs on goods coming into the uk. But its not just up to the uk. Im coming to that point. Its notjust up to the uk. Thats right, laura. Its notjust up to us, its up to the other side as well. And there is an element, of course, and a very important element, of mutuality and cooperation in this. Can you just tell us what happened at your partners home a couple of nights ago . I would love to tell you about all sorts of things, laura, but ive made it a rule over many, many years and i think youve interviewed me loads of times i do not talk about stuff involving my family, my loved ones, and theres a very good reason for that. And that is that, if you do, you drag them into things that really. In a way that is not fair on them. But now you hope to be in number ten, things are changing. Does your privacy mean more to you than the publics ability to trust you . Because part of trust is being open, its being accountable, its being transparent. I get that i totally get that. But my key point, though, is that the minute you Start Talking about your family or your loved ones, you involve them in in a debate in a way this is simply unfairon them. But you seem to care about your privacy so much that yesterday a photographer, or someone with a phone, just happened to stumble upon you in the middle of the sussex countryside. Arent you just trying to have this both ways . Look, i repeat my key point to you, laura, which is that over many, many years, and you can look back at innumerable statements i gave when i was mayor and probably before, where i just do not go into this stuff. And theres a good reason for it. Because, actually, i think what people want to know is what is going on with this guy . When it comes to trust or when it comes to all those things, does he deliver what he says he is going to . Lets look at your record, then. That the key thing. Well, lets look at that, then, because there are plenty of people, even in the conservative party, who worry that you do not stick to what you promise. I think theyre talking absolute nonsense. When i became mayor of london, when we said we would do something, we i may say delivered notjust x, but x 10. You said youd all ticket offices open, you closed every single one. You said that you would build more affordable houses, yes, you built more houses, but the definition of Affordable Housing changed. You said youd bring down rough sleeping and the number went up. We built more Affordable Homes than under labour. When you talk about the tube, we increased capacity on the tube by about 30 . The biggest investment in infrastructure that i think the city has seen. I pledged to reduce crime. We reduced crime by about 20 . We reduced the murder rate, which is a statistic that is very difficult to fudge, we reduced it by 50 . Why do you think people worry about your character . Why do so many conservatives worry about you sticking to your word, or being careless with the truth . When it came to the british citizen Nazanin Zaghari ratcliffe, you put her in danger by being careless with the facts. Your words were used in evidence against her in an iranian court. I think of course people will want to point the finger of blame at me if they possibly can, but actually all that does is serve to exculpate. Life the blame off the people who are really responsible, who are the Iranian Revolutionary guard. If you are Prime Minister, do you think it would be acceptable for a Prime Minister to say things like western muslim women in full veil look like bank robbers or commonwealth citizens are flag waving piccanninnies . Do you think if you move into number ten will you change . What i pledge to you know, what i think the people of this country want to hear, is i will be a politician who sticks by what i believe in and yes, occasionally i may say things, as ive said before, that cause offence. Im sorry for the offence i cause but i will continue to speak my mind, because i think people deserve to hear whats going on in my head and they deserve to hear my approach to things. Be in no doubt that at heart i am a centre right progressive modern conservative. I will govern from the centre right because that is from the centre, because that is where you win. That is where the broad mass of the people of this country are. Conservative mp Nadhim Zahawi is a borisjohnson backer, and hes at westminster. Good morning. Good morning. What has he said in the interview that convinces you he can renegotiate a brand new deal before october 31 and sort out the irish border issue, be allowed to sort out the border issue, after the 31st . I think what was loud and clear from that interview is that boris will prepare the country to get to the 31st of october ready, if necessary, not that he wanted, but if necessary, if we dont get a fair deal from the eu to walk away on wto terms. And that is the best way you guarantee a good deal. There has been a collective loss of confidence in and in the government, lack of discipline in the cabinet. I think boris will restore all that because he has made his pitch very clear to colleagues who were remainers, people who campaignfor remain who were remainers, people who campaign for remain like matt hancock and others. And colleagues who are brexiteers, like andrea leadsom, who has brought the party back together. He will bring the country back together. And deliver a good deal. Because when our interlocutorys believe that Prime Ministerjohnson is serious, that he wa nts a ministerjohnson is serious, that he wantsafair ministerjohnson is serious, that he wants a fair deal, he will work every night and day to get it, that will be the difference. Mrjohnson says there are abundant, abundant technical fixes that can be introduced to make sure you dont have to have cheques at the irish border. What are they . If you look at the document that was put out by the eu themselves about ten days ago, i think, the eu themselves about ten days ago, ithink, and the eu themselves about ten days ago, i think, and their Contingency Planning for no deal brexit, under wto terms, by the end of october, they themselves admit that there will not be a hard border between the republic of ireland and Northern Ireland. I wasnt asking that. Alternative arrangements will be in place. You asked me a specific question so let me be specific with you. Intelligence based customs. You dont need a hard border to deliver a customs agreement that works between both sides. Mrjohnson mentioned the trusted trader scheme. What else . As i said, you can have cheques away from the border, you can have the trusted trader scheme, you can have intelligence led customs where, if there are people, who, through intelligence, are identified as breaking the law or smuggling, you can go after them. There are lots of ways to do this. There are lots of ways to do this. The eu themselves, you dont have to rely on what i am saying, look at their document. They themselves in their document. They themselves in their Contingency Planning are relying on the alternative arrangements. The irish taoiseach does not want a hard border, nor do we. Both sides agree on this. It should not be a problem. It is not beyond the wit of man to agree that we dont have to have a hard border, that we can deliver the alternative arrangements after we leave the European Union, which is what boris is saying. I think part of the problem here, victoria, if you dont mind me saying, is we sit and negotiate with ourselves as if the european position is just negotiate with ourselves as if the european position isjust rigid. I dont believe that is true. Fair enough, youre what youre saying. Can you give me an example of the border with the eu were one of these abundant technological fixes has eliminated eliminate the need for any physical checks . You look at the swiss border, the swiss border is pretty open. You can drive straight across it. You dont know when you are in switzerland or france. Across it. You dont know when you are in switzerland or francem still has physical checks. All im saying is that the European Union themselves agree that technology can actually resolve the physical stuff. We dont have to have physical checks if both sides are determined. Iam asking checks if both sides are determined. I am asking you for an example of where that is happening. All i am saying to you is that the European Union have admitted it can be done. We will work with them to do it. Nicky morgan, on the remain side, is leading a team of colleagues looking at the alternative arrangement that can be put in place. It is not beyond the wit of man to deliver this. That is what i am saying. Give me an example of where it is happening . Both sides will make it happen. The europeans are saying, we will make it happen. You cant give me an example because there arent any examples of where this is happening right now. There isnt a border on earth, as the deputy eu negotiator said, where this is happening. Right, so let mejust repeat one more time. The European Union themselves put out a document ten days ago that actually says if we go to wto terms, we will not have a hard border between the republic of ireland, which is europe, and Northern Ireland, which is the united kingdom. We will deliver alternative arrangements based on intelligence, based on customs. We will deliver no physical border. It is doable. It is my point. It may not be at the moment fully implemented on the swiss border, but it actually is a long way towards that and you can build on that with modern technology that is available, to make this happen. I am not saying to make this happen. I am not saying to you it is something that. The reason why it is so important is because we are talking about a very sensitive border. The reason why nobody wants any physical checks, while we have to have an invisible border, is because if we dont, it threatens the Peace Process . You are absolutely right. It is worth reminding ourselves that we have different currencies and different tax systems between Northern Ireland and the republic. The republic has the euro. We dont. Im not talking about a trade. You are. I was actually asking about the Peace Process. There is no technological solution to address our border issues that has been designed yet or implemented anywhere in the world, let alone on a border which is as sensitive and complex as Northern Ireland. Again, i repeat to you, the reason i brought up the example of having two different tax systems and two different currencies, is because we already deal with differences between Northern Ireland and the republic and it is dealt with without a border. You are absolutely right. The Peace Agreement must not be jeopardised right. The Peace Agreement must not bejeopardised under right. The Peace Agreement must not be jeopardised under any circumstance. That is why i am saying the eu themselves have already said, ten days ago, that there is a contingency plan for having no border. That is good news. That is to be celebrated and to be built upon when borisjohnson, which i hope, becomes Prime Minister. He will be able to deliver that and deliver a good deal, a fair dealfor the uk, with the European Union, unite the country and defeatjeremy corbyn ultimately. Thank you for talking to us. My pleasure. New figures released today show prince harry and meghans house was renovated last year at a cost of £2. 11 million to you, the taxpayer. The royals received £82 million in public money in the last tax year. £33 million of that was set aside for maintenance, including major renovation work on Buckingham Palace. Im joined now by Youtuber Zeze millz and associate editor at the daily mirror, kevin maguire. Welcome both. Is this money well spent . Hello. I dont know if it is well spent but i think that a couple of years back Kate Middleton and william, they spent actually twice the amount of money as this. And i didnt see this big frenzy in the media. I think what it is again is just picking on my gun. There is a lwa ys just picking on my gun. There is always something she cant do right. Why wasnt there this big news report on what happened a couple of yea rs report on what happened a couple of years back. You mean when 4 million was spent renovating for kate and william . Yes. Where was all this . It was hard for me this morning to find the actual amount that was spent. Every time i googled it, it came up with meghan and what she had spent. What do you think is going on . just think that meghan doesnt fit what people think the royal family should be or what they should look like. They are targeting her. They did the same with the baby. She didnt know whether she wanted to show the baby straightaway, it was her decision. There was a big hurry about that. Hoo rah. It is always nit picking at her. I personally dont think its fair. Kevin maguire, do you think it is nit picking and targeted specifically at my gun . |j nit picking and targeted specifically at my gun . I remember the criticism, i read it in my own paperand the the criticism, i read it in my own paper and the daily mail and elsewhere, of the spending on Kensington Palace for william and Kate Middleton. I also remember the huge criticism of the spending on Buckingham Palace, £369 million. Im not surprised to see the criticism of £2. 11 million and counting, knocking five apartments into one at Frogmore Cottage. Quite a cottage, that we live and an era of austerity. You could build 20 Council Houses for the amount being spent on the royals. I think they have lost the plot. There is a sense of entitlement and privilege in that family. I dont think we should doubt show deference any more. We should hold them to account on that spending. George osborne, when he was chancellor, massively increased the amount of money going to the royal family under whats known as the sovereign grant. Now Public Service has an increase in funding to match the royals. No Public Service. I think there has been an element of racism and snobbery involved but not when it comes to the expenditure of such a large amount of money on a home for a couple like this. I think what we have to understand, yes, it might not be ideal but of the uk is one of the six biggest when it comes to tourism. At the end of the day they are not coming here for the great weather we have got injune while i stood at the bust up this morning with my umbrella. They are coming for the royalfamily, with my umbrella. They are coming for the royal family, they with my umbrella. They are coming for the royalfamily, they are coming to see that, they are coming to hopefully see the queen, whatever. In 2018, we brought in over 30 billion, ok . Whatever. In 2018, we brought in over30 billion, ok . Some of whatever. In 2018, we brought in over 30 billion, ok . Some of that was 2 billion from the us. Meghan markle, a lot of americans want to come to the uk and see her. Yes, in an ideal world, thats great. This needs to be done. But tourism is one of our biggest incomes and the royal family is tourism for the uk. Tourism in the royal family is a myth tojustify tourism in the royal family is a myth to justify expenditure. Local authorities have to pay when one of the royals goes to unveil a plaque to themselves. More people go to chester zoo then go to windsor castle. More people will go to versailles, which is open all year round, then will say go to Buckingham Palace, which is only open ata Buckingham Palace, which is only open at a limited period. It is massively overplayed. But again, evenif massively overplayed. But again, even if the royals are on the tourist draw, how do you justify £2. 11 million, and counting, on a cottage, as its called, for a couple . I think that the media are really good at throwing out big figures. 2. 4 million. But in actual fa ct figures. 2. 4 million. But in actual fact it cost each of us £1 24. That is what it has cost us. When was the last time you spent 1. 24 . I cant even get on public transport for that . In the grand scheme of things, yes, i now come out 2. 4 million. Wow, lets all get excited. But it cost us £1 24. The wow, lets all get excited. But it cost us £124. The last time i heard that flippancy for access was from mps who said it cost hardly anything to clean their duck island. But it matters. It matters when so much money is being spent on one family, one couple, when there are so many people in britain, 1 million plus people in britain, 1 million plus people on Council Waiting lists, 5000 to 6000 people sleeping rough micro on the streets, and we are devoting all this money to a very privileged, self entitled family. Come on, its a sickjoke. Nick says on e mail, putting aside their royal duties, they bring in a fortune to this country. It simple, if you want a royal family you have to pay for it. This e mailer says its disgusting. The royals are sadly nothing but recipients of benefits, for which they generate little in return. Tourists will still visit britain if the palaces and castles are open to the public. Public money should go to more needy causes. Jeff says, i feel they are entitled to have their house renovated and paid for by the taxpayer. Both of these people are big assets to this country and bring in far more money than they spend. Andrew says, i have been a great fan of harry and megan. However, the thought of £2. 4 million of taxpayers money for their new home, is disgusting. Both are millionaires in their own right. Thank you both. Thank you for coming on the programme. Thanks for your time. Strippers at two manchester clubs say theyre angry and terrified after a Campaign Group carried out undercoverfilming of private nude dances. It claimed the recordings in victorias and obsessions lap dancing clubs showed breaches in licensing rules, including sexual acts. A spokesperson for victorias told the bbc it had taken these allegations seriously, and was co operating fully with a council investigation, adding that the club had not knowingly contravened or permitted the contravention of any term or condition of their licence. Lets talk to shiri shalmy from the united voices of the world union, which represents strippers and dancers. And dr sasha rakoff from the Campaign Group not buying it who carried out the filming. Can you tell us about the filming and what you have in your footage . Hi, there. We went into a number of clu bs a cross hi, there. We went into a number of clubs across the country. We found what we knew, that these women had to provide sexual contact. This is how these clubs operate. This has been about exposing the industry, not trying to expose the dancers themselves. We knew this because we spoke to many women who have left the industry, every single one talks about the abuse, the harassment, the intimidation, the sexual contact that goes on in clubs. We found over a hundred instances in 70 clubs, a third of the industry, where prostitution, Drug Trafficking etc is the norm. We have even had two court cases against one council where it has conceded a breach in quality law because it was licensing for the strip industry. When you say the only way to make any money is for sexual contact, what do you mean specifically . I dont know what you are about to say but i am going to give a warning to anybody watching, if there are children around, you might not want them to hear this. The problems one of the provinces these clubs manipulate women financially and emotionally. A lot of women in this industry have a history of abuse. Financially you have to pay to working with clubs. The women have to pay £80 to £250 to even work on a strip club. They often have to buy expensive clothes. So you are in debt before you even start working. They also lay on far too many lap dances for pointers. When these investigators went in, there was many lap dancers in as punters. The only way you get money is through the private dances, which can go for as much as £10 or £20. What do you say about this filming in the footage . From the position of the trade Union Representing the strippers, this is obviously a gross violation of their privacy and of their right to work in a legitimate legal workplace. At this moment, sasha ra koff, legal workplace. At this moment, sasha rakoff, or legal workplace. At this moment, sasha ra koff, or whoever, legal workplace. At this moment, sasha rakoff, orwhoever, is holding footage of naked women and threatening to use it against them and this qualifies as revenge porn. Is this true . Are some people think this is revenge porn they should go to the police because this is a very serious offence. Fight night but you have footage that is claimed to be invasion of these womens privacy . If the cctv was adequate, not always wiped or missing when the council went on, they would see it for themselves. The council are supposed to run undercover investigations and if they were doing that properly they would have seen it for themselves. The council to investigate the club and they have renewed the license is for clubs across the country and they do so every year. The dancers in the club consent to be on cctv that is there for their own safety, and the cctv, the bouncers, the management, they are there for their own safety, and when they perform, and lets be clear, these are performers. They are not providing sexual services. To do that you go down the road, and i have not seen sasha rakoff finding any of the legal brothels and so on, and they are finding the legitimate, legal strip clubs that are licensed and checked, and, yes, they have cctv in them, because they are protecting the dancers. Are you going to go to the police to make a complaint of revenge porn . We are not going to the police to make the complaint of revenge porn because we have not seen the footage, i dont know if anyone has. We are unionising and dancers arejoining the union to organise together with supporters from all over the country, with students who work in strip clubs, with people in other industries, to organise to improve conditions in strip clubs, because of course we all work for money and we all need to organise at work to make our conditions and pay better, but we also need to fight so called feminists coming into strip clubs and threatening to use filming of naked women against themselves. They are not helping the women in anyway and the women never asked to be saved by sasha rakoff. They dont wa nt to saved by sasha rakoff. They dont want to be saved by you. Can ijust say, no one has been threatened . I explained why we did this. Every other cctv measure isnt working. The only people who have seen this footage and have been giving it either investigating officers in the council. No one else is going to see it, none of the councillors, certainly no one with dancers they can identify, and it will be destroyed as soon as it has been verified against the written statements of the investigators. 0k. Thank you both very much, thank you for coming on the programme. Manchester city council says it has the footage and an investigation is continuing. Thank you. Lets bring you this news, to do with David Duckenfield, the hillsborough match commander, who will face retrial for gross negligence manslaughter, that news just breaking. Lets speak to fiona trott who is at the court. Tell us what you know. Well, the families of those who died will be pleased with this outcome because the Legal Process is continuing. Thejudge made this decisionjust process is continuing. Thejudge made this Decision Just a few moments ago. We may not be able to broadcast the full details of how he made that decision. That is at his discretion, but i can remind you of how we reach this point. You will remember the 74 year old who was the match commander on the day, David Duckenfield, went on trial earlier this year facing 95 gross negligence manslaughter charges. There could be no prosecution over the 96th victim, because he died later. Thejury failed to reach a verdict. The prosecution sought a retrial. That was opposed by the defence team which is why we have had this hearing at Preston Crown court. It started yesterday. David duckenfield has not been present during the hearing. He has not been required to attend but we are hearing now from Preston Crown court the judge has decided that 74 year old David Duckenfield will face another trial. We urge you to find out shortly when that will be. Fiona trott reporting. Britains most influential, most powerful people are over five times more likely to have been to a private fee paying school than the general population. Thats according to new research out today. The report by the eduction charity the sutton trust has looked at the top five thousand most powerful people in the country across professions like law, politics, media, policing, the armed forces, sport, music and film. It looked at how many of those went to private school and how many went on to top universities like oxford and cambridge. 39 of those in power had the privilege of private education and the charity say the gap between those at the top and the rest of us isnt getting much narrower, despite some progress over the years. Lets talk about this. In the studio this morning is the conservative mp sam gyimah, who is also the former universities minister. He attended boarding school in ghana, before returning to the uk to sit his gcses at a comprehensive school, and then went on to oxford university. In worcester, is the founder and ceo of gtech, nick grey. He went to a state school and dropped out of sixth form college after studying design. He started out cleaning floors at vax, set up his own vacuum company, gtech, in 2001. Its now worth £120 million. And in leeds is sian gabbidon. She went to a state school, studied fashion at university. Won the apprentice in 2018, after launching a swimwear company. Thank you all very much for coming on the programme. Sam gyimah, brittons most influential people are over five times more likely to have been to a private fee paying school than the general population, and 7 of the general population was privately educated compared to two thefts of those in a position of power. What do you make of that . Staggering, but not surprising. This confirms what a lot of sian us actually think about what is happening in our society. This has just put some numbers to it. I believe you need data because without the data you dont know how you can improve. So this report is welcome in terms of shedding light on what we already know, and to be honest this problem has been going on forfar too, why honest this problem has been going on for far too, why do you think this happens . An interesting question nick grey, why do you think this happens . I think there is the argument that brighter kids can sometimes find themselves in these spots, but for me i wasnt bothered about education, couldnt get out of it quick enough, didnt really want to hear what i had to say to them. But when i got into industry it was very different. So it is a strange one. Ididnt very different. So it is a strange one. I didnt really take to education at all. Sian, why do you think this happens . education at all. Sian, why do you think this happens . I guess in my opinion it is quite unfair really to think these kids probably from better backgrounds and with more money to afford to put them through private school and whatnot are doing better when you have underprivileged children that should have the same kind of opportunities, you know, and they have the skill set but they just cant afford to do the same things. I think it is a fair point, but its unfair to kids that we could do well from it. Sam, the people who are in power come from a very narrow section of the population, and 17 of these elites went to private school, oxbridge. You studied at oxbridge. Are you more likely to make it in politics studying at oxford or cambridge . think it has been helpful. How . I was brought up by a single mother in dana, kim here, went to a state compressorfor my dana, kim here, went to a state compressor for my sixth form and from there i went to oxford i came here. I got into oxford because my history teacher offered to give me extra lessons after school to prepare for the interview and exams i needed to take, but once i got to oxford i got to do debating i had never done before, i made friends who i would never have met before, very ambitious, and you learn what they were doing, you learn, oh, this is what other people do . I never knew when i arrived there that where you went to school was important. People asking about where a person went to school, and i always thought, there are lots of schools in the country, why do people ask . It took me awhile to realise what they meant was, which private school did you go to . Exactly. But it gave me confidence, it gave me a sense of how the rules of the game work. You know, everybody around me was Work Experience or an internship, well i found work expense for myself, and everybody there through debating was looking at doing things politically andi looking at doing things politically and i got involved in student politics that we so yes, there are lots of universities that are fantastic in this country. Oxford and cambridge are not for everyone and cambridge are not for everyone and people go to other universities and people go to other universities and do very well in life. What i got in terms of my personal experience was for someone who had come from com pletely was for someone who had come from completely outside the system, i learned what the rules of the game are. Ok. Lets talk about how we change this, if you think it needs to be changed, nick, what do you say . I never asked anyone where they we re say . I never asked anyone where they were educated and i dont care, frankly. If people come in, do a good job and work hard, they get on well, and i cant really understand the obsession with education. It does exist in some areas. It is not for me. I recently revamped the business to make sure people in a management situation had come through the operation, prove themselves, prove they could get on with people at the lower end of the organisation, could understand the lower end of the organisation as same as the management. I dont ask people where they are educated and i dont care. But do you care that the media, politics, you know, some of the top bosses in the ftse 250 list etc, so many come from private school, when so many people went to state school . Yeah, i do care. I find it a bit irritating, actually that it seems to count for so much when i dont rate it that way and i dont feel it was a system that welcomed my desire for design and change. You know, i didnt feel heard in the education environment so heard in the education environment soi heard in the education environment so i think if creative people are being sort of moved out of that and other people that are may be yes men or politicians in all forms of life are getting through above others, yeah, i dont like it, i dont think it isa yeah, i dont like it, i dont think it is a good thing. Sian, where did you get your confidence from . it is a good thing. Sian, where did you get your confidence from . I get it from my parents. I went to university. I was from a very humble background and my parents worked ha rd background and my parents worked hard to pay for my university, and i felt i had to do you need to learn what i needed to do what i wanted to do. I had to do university. I think it is unfair on the kids who might not be able to afford it and i think the government should do more to make it more affordable to everyone so, to make it more affordable to everyone so, yeah, in my opinion thatis everyone so, yeah, in my opinion that is kind of where i am at. 0k, thank you. May i ask you, sam gyimah, before you go, briefly, about brexit . A quick question. 0h. Ken clarke the about brexit . A quick question. 0h. Ken clarke the former chancellor said, yes, he would be prepared to bring down a Boris Johnson government if they were going for no deal. Would you join ken clarke in that . I have no intention to bring down the government if it was going for no deal but i would work very hard to stop and no deal brexit because it will break up the union. Every government has a responsibility towards the 66 million citizens in this country and i do not see how a responsible government can take that action without in some way jeopardising peoples livelihoods, andi jeopardising peoples livelihoods, and i think it is therefore my responsibility as a member of parliament to work to stop that. I heard the earlier interview you had with my colleague waiting to come on air, and he said we have to keep no deal on the table so they know that we can walk away. At the bit of the question he didnt answer, so you walk away, what happens the next day . After you have walked away with no deal, youre back at the negotiating table with the eu and youre still asking for the 39 billion, for the Withdrawal Agreement, and youre still negotiating over the irish border. It is not a solution. You are definitely not one of the 12 that the defence minister identified yesterday. I am not one of the 12 tobias identified. Thank you very much. Thank you. Next, were going to bring you an inside look at the glitzy clubs of south korea, which have been hit by huge controversy after a string of charges and allegations from drug dealing to Sexual Assaults. There have been Police Investigations around some of the most popular k pop stars, and seouls flashy clubs are at the heart of the scandal. Hyung un kim got rare access to those clubs, and some of those who say theyve been attacked there. And just a warning that her report contains flashing images. Music is south koreas biggest export. It has brought the countrys pop culture, widely known as k pop, to worldwide fame. And inside south korea, it is the basis for a massive entertainment industry, including seouls famous clubs. But underneath this glitzy picture lies a much darker side. Kim thats not her real name narrowly escaped being raped after visiting one of the clubs. She recalls how the club employees, known as the mds, which stands for merchandisers, at first offered her free drinks and food. Translation the club mds bought me some drinks. Then they checked on me every five minutes to see if im partying. If im taking a break, they would Say Something like, we gave you drinks to play not to sit and rest go party. You feel like youre being treated as an escort. I was drinking, but not an amount that could knock me out. Then, suddenly, i lost consciousness. Just like that. Many stories like kims have emerged in recent months. The scandal all started with this man, seungri, a member of the band they call the kings of k pop, big bang. The singer was charged in february with illegal activities including organising prostitution and drug use in the club he co owns, the burning sun. Seungri has acknowledged some of the charges, but the scandal didnt end there. Within months, other k pop stars were charged. The entire industry was rocked by the allegations. The bbc has been following the disturbing claims coming out of seoul clubs for months. We have gained access to one club and have witnesses that have seen instances of abuse happening there. Translation the most striking thing is how common the use of the drug is in the club. Wong has worked undercover as a driver for famous clubs in gangnam, seouls entertainment district, while writing a book about the industry. In gangnam, seouls entertainment district, while writing in some incidents, he who was asked to take women to vip clients waiting inside, and later geard the vips boasting about having sex with them. He says women were given ghb, widely known as the club drug or the date rape drug, without their knowledge. Translation i made an eye contact with a male vip who was adding drugs to a womans drink to rape her. I heard vips saying things like, it was a home run, it was a grand slam. Following the burning sun scandal, the Police Arrested scores for charges of drug use and exchange in the clubs. The most commonly used drugs were ghb and ecstasy. Translation they also filmed the women. They show only females bodies and blur mens faces. The first purpose is to share these videos with others, and the second is so that they can blackmail the women and keep their mouth shut. Drugs are clearly a part of the scene in these clubs. Kim tells us that when she woke up that night whatever she had in that drink has left her helpless. Translation when i started to wake up, i was outside. I was on someones back, being carried away. There were three guys around me. One of them was a club md. I was so scared. I tried to set myself free and shouted, help me, help me. I dont know these guys. The guys told me to stay still and held me tight. They grabbed me so hard that it was marked in my skin. The use of violence in these clubs is not uncommon. Translation club culture in gangnam is similar to escort culture. It may appear as a club, but its a big escort service. Chu not her real name also used to work in the entertainment industry. Shes now a counsellor for the clubs victims. The once small and underground clubs have seen a transformation after 2005. Many of the clubs in gangnam district expanded and changed the interior to include rooms tailored for rich clients. They started creating space where people stare down at people dancing from the second floor. From the number of women shes helping, chu believes that the scandal of the Burning Sun Club has only scratched the surface. There must be thousands of victims out there. Victims say they woke up and they found themselves in a motel. There have been many rape cases like these. Kim still doesnt remember all the details of how she escaped even more abuse on that night. When the men who took her arrived at a motel, she started to ask for help. The receptionist threatened the man that hed call the police. Later, when i sobered up i was back home but the police told my mum that they simply took a drunk girl home. Its been more than a year now since kim was saved, but shes still haunted by that night. The police didnt look into her case, and sometimes kim fears no justice will be served. Since the incident, im scared of people, and hiding away from the world. I didnt feel like the police was on my side and i thought, what if it backfired on me . Im still scared of revenge. The investigation into the allegations of Sexual Misconduct in clubs continues. Some suspect that clubs are powerful structures too powerful to be held accountable. But the scandal has already shocked south Korean Society and it will take a long time for these clubs to lose their badly tarnished image. Thank you for your many comments about the money spent by. Well, your money actually. Taxpayers money for the renovations of harry and meghans home and wince windsor. This one, ifeel like and meghans home and wince windsor. This one, i feel like the and meghans home and wince windsor. This one, ifeel like the money spent on Frogmore Cottage is a disgrace. The royals are an Outdated Institution and tourism would still do well without them. People can still visit Buckingham Palace without the royals. This one. £2. 4 million is nothing. This one, expected to use their savings before qualifying for public funds and the same should apply in this instance. This one. Harrys has cost less than 4p per uk resident, a lot of fuss over nothing. And this. Outrage at the money footing the bill for harry and meghans lavish lifestyle. How many homes does one couple need . This unelected self entitled couple with their lavish lifestyle have run their course. Time for a referendum on the monarchy in this country. Then give the homes and palaces back to the state to open daily as museums, like they do in france. Right. A youtuber known to his thousands of youtube and instagram followers as etika has disappeared after uploading an eight minute video in which he talked about suicidal thoughts. Some of his belongings were found yesterday on manhattan bridge. Anna collinson is here with the latest. Anna, first of all, tell us more about who etika is . Well, etika, he is 29, real name desmond amofah, but better known as the gamer who discusses Nintendo Games on youtube and the streaming channel. He has 700,000 followers across twitter, instagram and youtube, but he also has a history of Mental Health problems which he has spoken about in the past and we will play a quick clip that gives an idea of how he talks about it. One thing that ill tell you that i have missed hitting is the goddamn news feed. I missed out on so many things when i was gone in my little hiatuses. I most stuff like the fire emblem three heroes announcements and stuff like the joker reveal, but no more as you might have heard on there he refers to his hiatus, and you might have seen the animation, a little caption, and unless you are very eagle eyed i will read you what it said. It would see my channel is doing well, time for another mental breakdown. Would seem that my channel. He has gone missing. What is the latest . Six days ago he uploaded a cryptic video, apologising to those he had let down, but also talking about suicidal thoughts. Aside from one tweet he posted a couple of hours later that is the last people have heard from him. He has gone silent. Police in new york have been investigating and now the New York Post newspaper reported officers found some of his belongings on a bridge in manhattan including his phone, driving licence and wallet. There were also media reports this morning that a mans body has been found in the river but i have just spoken to the new York Police Department and they say this body has not been identified, that the search for etika is still ongoing and not to draw comparisons between the two. What has been the reaction to his disappearance so far . Etika has a loyal fan base who are very outspoken and have been tweeting support and concern for him. U nfortu nately support and concern for him. Unfortunately this is not a surprise to some of them. This type of thing has happened already this year. He posted some disturbing messages, some offensive tweets, which upset a lot of people. He also shared a video of him being arrested or detained by a group of police officers. On another occasion he showed a video of him getting into a fight with a police officer. The last few months have been very up and down case etika but fans are waiting and just hoping for a positive outcome. They have been sharing their thoughts on social media andi sharing their thoughts on social media and i will read one. Etika is getting to me. Im tired of losing people i look up to. Please be safe. Thank you. Thank you for your many m essa 9 es thank you. Thank you for your many messages on all sorts of subjects today. The £2. 49 spent on renovations at harry and meghans house and also about borisjohnsons £2. 4 house and also about borisjohnsons £2. 4 million. Borisjohnsons most detailed interview so far. This one. A clear interview where he could articulate his ideas on brexit and more personal questions, but despite this he finds it difficult to explain without hesitation his plans, and he refuses to defend himself about what happened with his partner which goes toward what his character is like. Still the bumbling buffoon persona rather than the clear, articulate leader we need. No wonder he doesnt want to try to manage and live leadership debate. And this e mailer sayswhy does it matter about his private life . Do we know about anyone else . Of course not. We are only interested in his views and what he would bring as leader. Whether he is your choice or not he deserves fairness. And baxter said he waffles far too much and how could he command any respect from adversaries . When he walks into meetings with hands on his pockets, he will backtrack on his promises once he becomes leader. Another one. On twitter it is all coming together, borisjohnson will enter ten downing st as Prime Minister and the uk will leave the eu, happy days. Boris says they are hard fixes to avoid technical fixes to avoid a hard irish border. This one. The entire content of the interview with borisjohnson is nauseating. He is living in cloud cuckoo land, simplistic nonsense from a man who repeatedly does not have a clue. Prime ministers need the ability to know what to say and went to said which is definitely not him on past form. I dread the day, if he gets the keys to number ten. One more for now. He claims to have a solution to the difficult withdrawal renegotiations, but does he, or is this just renegotiations, but does he, or is thisjust a renegotiations, but does he, or is this just a bed at leadership . Renegotiations, but does he, or is thisjust a bed at leadership . Its definitely a bed at leadership, yeah. Thank you for your company today. We are back tomorrow at ten oclock. Bbc newsround live is next. Bye bye. Oclock. Bbc newsround live is next. Bye bye. Newsroom live. Good morning. A rather wet start to the day for many in england and wales. Some pretty heavy downpours. This was the scene in warwickshire this morning. A lot of heavy rain still around and we could see the odd thundery showers are mixed in. This moving further north and east which, tending to ease off a little into the afternoon. More sunny spells here but they may spark off a few showers with temperatures getting to 23 to 26 celsius cooler on the north sea coasts. Scotland and Northern Ireland mostly cloudy but staying mostly dry. Keeping a lot of cloud it could be a bit misty and market into wednesday morning and an uncomfortable night for many. Those temperatures staying 13 16dc. Humidity still high. Throughout wednesday, while drier, apart from a few showers in the far south west there will be brighter skies eventually coming through in scotland, Northern Ireland, again a fairly murky day but temperatures once again getting into the high teens to low 20s.
