The governing socialist party in spain looks set to win most seats in the general election but will again fall short of a majority. And well be taking an in depth look at the papers with our reviewers lucy fisher, defence correspondent for the times, and Kevin Schofield, the editor of politics home. Stay with us for that. Labour rejected accusations from the conservatives today that a Jeremy Corbyn led government could result in an economic crisis within months. The conservatives said labours policies would cost more than a trillion pounds over a five Year Parliament a figure dismissed by labour as a work of fiction. 0ur Political Correspondent Jessica Parker reports. Two men competing to run the countrys finances. The conservatives claim that labours plans amount to an unaffordable splurge. But is their maths up to scratch . Every single costing in this dossier that we have published today has either come from labours own figures, most of them, actually, over 50 of the costings are from labours own figures. The rest of them have either come from independent external sources and in some cases, yes, we have had to work them out ourselves but we have done that in a reasonable way and we have set out exactly in the document how weve done it. But the claims are contentious. £196 billion to renationalise Industries Like the railways . Already a disputed figure. £85 billion to bring in a four day working week . The conservative dossier assumes such plans would all quickly come into force. £35 billion to abolish private schools . Labour conference voted on the idea but the partys actual election policy has not been confirmed. This is an absolute work of fiction by the conservatives. You cant trust a word thatjohnson and his ministers say on this issue. We will have a fully costed manifesto in due course, when we launch that. You know, the challenge is actually for the conservatives to fully cost their own manifesto, something they didnt do in 2017. The conservatives plan to borrow less than labour, but have the tories gone and totted up a total cost for their own spending pledges . You have not got an equivalent number for the conservatives, have you . We do, we do have a number. What is it, then . Well, as ive said, we are spending 150 billion more on infrastructure and we are going to spend a lot more money on. But that is not the total number, is it . Im not going to bandy around figures. But that is what you have been doing for labour. But that is their. That is ourjob. The Purse Strings are loosening in this place, whichever way you look at it. The parties believe that there is an appetite for more public spending, so the debate is likely to range around whose plans strike the right balance between being responsible but also truly radical. Until manifestos have actually been unveiled, things are a little up in the air. The liberal democrats say the parties should submit their plans for independent analysis. So there will be more outspoken arguments to come over what the country can afford. Jessica parker, bbc news. Meanwhile as candidate lists are finalised for the election on december the 12th the labour mp keith vaz has announced hes standing down. Firefighters tackling around a hundred bushfires in australia say they could now start to threaten sydney. At least three people have died in the fires in New South Wales and queensland. Helena wilkinson has the latest. The scale and ferocity of these fires is clear. This is New South Wales on the east coast of australia, being ravaged by the flames. Three days since the wildfires began, theyre still burning and spreading. More than 1,000 firefighters are working across this state and queensland to try and contain them, but conditions are difficult. Its just the worst thing ive ever seen, honestly. The fire front is coming at us. Theres nothing you could do about it. Lost a few friends in the fire, lost all my possessions. Possessions are nothing. Its the people that count, eh. The devastating power of these fires is clear to see. This used to be what someone called home. Now theres nothing left. 150 homes have so far been destroyed and thousands of people have had to evacuate. Australias Prime Minister says hes proud of how people have helped each other. People have reached out, got people out of homes, made sure they got to safety, looked after each others livestock and animals, talking to each other, putting themselves in harms way for each other. Ive got to tell you, as a Prime Minister, im never more proud of australians than in moments like this. As the fires continue, Officials Say things are likely to get worse. Extreme warnings for large parts of the New South Wales coast are likely to be issued this week, with areas around sydney especially at risk. Helena wilkinson, bbc news. The fight against Climate Change has put an urgent focus on Carbon Emissions from aviation something the industry says its working hard to reduce. But a bbc panorama investigation has revealed how a common practice among airlines, including British Airways, increases emissions. Its called fuel tankering and it involves filling up in locations where fuel is cheaper, thus flying with fuller tanks than necessary for the journey. The heavier weight of the plane means higher emissions which drive Climate Change. 0ur chief environment correspondent, justin rowlatt, reports. British airways says it has big ambitions when it comes to the environment. We have set ourselves the vision to be the Worlds Leading Airline group on sustainability. Over the last three years, our fuel Efficiency Programme has saved over 200,000 tons of c02. But a British Airways insider has decided to blow the whistle on one way the industry puts saving money before saving the planet. He is worried speaking out could cost him hisjob, so wants to remain anonymous. I believe them to be misleading passengers to think that British Airways is more sustainable than it actually is. He told us about a practice known as fuel tankering that causes unnecessary emissions. So heres how it works. The cost of Aviation Fuel differs between destinations and airlines can save money by filling up with fuel where it is cheap, so they dont have to buy fuel where it is more expensive. The problem is, more fuel means heavier planes, and heavier planes. Mean more Greenhouse Gas emissions. British airways can save hundreds of pounds per flight doing this, but the bbc has seen dozens of internal documents that show sometimes, it saves about a tenner. For such a big company, such as British Airways, to be trying to save such small amounts while emitting so much extra c02 seems unjustifiable in the current climate. It sounds to me like hypocrisy. It is, its exceptionally hypocritical. I have been a ba employee for a long time. Im very proud to be part of ba. But in all honesty, it makes me sad and disappointed. British airways told the bbc this is a classic example of Corporate Green wash and shows that they are willing to turbo charge the Climate Emergency even for very small additional benefits to their bottom line. Tankering is an industry wide practice. Ba told bbc panorama it is responsible for just 2 of the additional emissions tankering generates in europe. It would be easy for European Airlines to drop the practice. Stopping tankering would raise costs a little but would cut a lot of co2 emissions, an estimated 900,000 tons every year. Justin rowlatt, bbc news. You can watch the full panorama programme, can flying go green . Thats on bbc one tomorrow at half past eight, and then on the bbc iplayer. And well be taking a second in depth look at the papers with our reviewers lucy fisher from the times and Kevin Schofield from politicshome thats coming up after the headlines at 11 30. Now its time for a look at the weather. There is more wet weather sweeping across the uk at the moment, it is on move, not hanging around too long at any one particular location but it is wet weather where it is not particularly needed for some areas, and that was after quite a bit of sunshine that made a pleasant change but its back to square one. With these weather fronts, taking the wet weather through, just about through northern ireland, there are showers following and there is a bit of snow showing up as you can see, particularly north of the central belt in scotland, so some of the higher roots here will be quite wintry going into the morning, the weather is accompanied by gusty winds as it feeds its way eastward overnight with temperatures actually heading upa overnight with temperatures actually heading up a little bit as the night goes on after what was actually stuck to the clearly not very warm first in the morning either, but the bulk of the wet weather click done it quickly clearing away from eastern parts of england with those gusty winds and then it fell a blustery day out there tomorrow with sun and showers, coming and especially across North Western areas on that risk north westerly wind, some of the showers will be heavy, risk of thunder, and for most ofa heavy, risk of thunder, and for most of a single figure temperature. Feels colder tomorrow even when you get a little bit of sunshine because the wind is stronger. We keep the showers moving north west across the uk overnight and into tuesday, the further south and east you are not as many showers as there will be to the north west, the starting temperatures on tuesday morning. Blood pressure still close by on tuesday, we will see another band of wet weather pushing southwards during the day so not everybody wet all day but there will be some wet weather for many of us at some stage of the day, but still fun drier and brighter moments. If anything a bit cold on tuesday, you would have to bea cold on tuesday, you would have to be a long way south for double figure temperatures. A brief low moves and affecting northern ireland, and there could be a long speu ireland, and there could be a long spell of rain to areas seeing some nasty flooding. There will be more wet weather on the way this week, some health snow often windy around areas of low pressure will be forced occasionally overnight as well. That is looking ahead, right now, of course, there are Environment Agency flood warnings, still some severe on the river don. The guardians front page says that almost half of rape victims who go to police do not pursue a prosecution adding that the legal system is in crisis. Lets start with the
